Actually, I haven't noticed any kind of attraction from animals to beams. To the dot, absolutely, but to the beam, not at all. I think at that power it's also too bright for them to be interested in... it won't trigger their prey drive.

Oh yes, yes it will.

I point my lasers up in the sky, my dog jumps and barks and runs across entire yard back and forth. Literally jumps up and is trying to catch the beam. He can't perceive that it's about a dozen meters high and, I mean yeah it's a big dog but I haven't seen him jump 10 meters up, but it sure as hell isn't stopping him for trying.

Good to expend some energy, he'll eat up and be calm the rest of the evening :p

Different animals, different reactions. Yours is probably just too used to lasers :na:

I had a dog that would go for the beam of a 20mW green. I wonder if it has something to do with the dust, hair or whatver else is in the air moving through the beam.

Yeah. My dog is not attracted to a standing beam
However, she does notice and "try to find" whatever just "flashed" in the air

Peace,

Supposedly nobody died and that bumping motion wasn't running over some kids.

Where I live it snows a lot, and on the street where I live (which is quite steep) is very common to see tourists coming here to ski, sliding with the sled in the midle of the street, this happened to me two weeks ago, I climb the street with the car with difficulty because the heavy snow that fell, and some idiots sliding with the sled in the Street :yabbmad:

I am surprised that there are not more accidents by the attitude of many brainless.

Ugh, it's bad enough idiots here decide to walk in the street rather than use the sidewalks that border the road. Why even have sidewalks then, and require people to shovel them?

As for the sled people, it really should be that if you hit one of these idiots you don't get punished. I think it'd be more like a self-inflicted injury/death.

It should be, but DA can still charge you with manslaughter... especially if you end up running over some idiot kid, and there is a cute idiot face to paste onto a big poster.

The worst part is that many times not only are kids, usually are young people looking strong feelings, and often tend to be drunk.

And if you have the misfortune run over one of these idiots, the problems are for yourself, although it is not our fault.

It is partly for that and other reasons (for example this video that I posted a few days ago) that now I always carry a camera
recording the road all the time, I think it says Video Dashboard, or something similar.

I wasn't sure whether to put this in the gif thread or this thread.

It made me cringe in sympathy though, so here goes...

@piferal - I'd love to get a dashboard cam, but I will love it even more when google glass is fully implemented... imagine being able to record everything, literally as you see it, and uploading it instantly.

One population I know will absolutely despise this development in the US will be the cops.
