So I was looking at SSDs and noticed this.

OEM $344.99 - Newegg.com - Intel 520 Series Cherryville SSDSC2CW240A310 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - Internal SSD

Retail $334.99 - Newegg.com - Intel 520 Series Cherryville SSDSC2CW240A3K5 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

OEM products are almost always cheaper. The OEM 180GB is cheaper than its retail counterpart. The 120GB versions are the same price.:wtf:

For drop shippers like newegg, there are often back end rebates in place, so OEM is not at always cheaper.

Pricing is usually based in some form on final cost to the supplier, typically when the final price for the retail package is lower than the OEM it will be matched to the OEM or offered at a very slightly higher price. In this case whoever is in charge of setting prices was most likely simply unaware of the higher priced OEM package, and didn't take it into account.

Bear in mind when you're dealing with millions of items, there are only so many key comparison criteria you can use. Drop shippers often deal with many, many, companies. Not all the companies use the same exact nomenclature for what they offer, so it's often a challenge to spot what are essentially duplicate offerings, and price them relative to each other, and taking into account final cost.

This is just part of a post. The "setup" is not included

As I'm walking back to my car, I cross paths with this black kid in a Publix uniform, he's maybe 17 years old or so, and out gathering up shopping carts. I caught his attention and asked, "Hey man, do you guys have any public phones? I forgot my cell at home."

The kid chews on his bottom lip for a minute, "No, I don't think we do."

"Do you know if there are any around here?"

He looks down again to think, "Probably try Walmart, they sell everything."

Sell? I'm wondering. "Oh no," I corrected, "I don't mean like a disposable phone, I mean a pay phone."

The kid stares at me.

"You know, a pay phone. For public use... In case you don't have a cell phone..."

I stared and waited.

And he stared right back, like I did when I listened to my grandfather tell me something about living through The Depression.

"You know, a public phone one you can put a quarter in and make a phone call...?" ...and I get nothing.
I might as well have been talking long string theory quantum mechanics.
This 17 year old kid had NO F**kING CLUE what a pay phone was.
For as long as he's known better, people have always had their own cell phones and been able to text message on a whim.

That made me feel really f**king old.

Peace,
dave

Unfortunately in my province too.. There seems to be this thing happening
where the people give the gov more power, and in turn everybody loses their common sense.

To be a legal gun owner here also says that you give up the right to have a
warrant presented to you while the cops walk through your door.. They may
do so at their own leisure.

The story of the father arrested really reminds me of how
Hollywood sometimes hits our future on the head :undecided:
