I was just listening to a radio station in Los Anngeles and during the news break they had a story about a man injured by an exploding E-cig :wtf: so I get online and find this: Anaheim Hills Teen Injured by Exploding E-Cig | NBC Southern California :wtf: looks like it's not the first time! And now you might not be able to take them on airline flights anymore. If you read the article and see the video, They say it was loud enough that neighbors called 911 because of an explosion! Do you think this was caused by the battery somehow shorting or what? I have yet to hear of an exploding laser, but after searching I find there have been some exploding flashlights! If it's the batteries I didn't know they could explode that violently. :wtf:

I've purposely destroyed 18650s using 2 methods. None of them were loud. The first method was throwing one in a fire. It popped and sent some stuff flying. The other one was shot with a pellet gun. All it did was send some sparks flying, burn for a little bit and get hot enough to make the steel turn bright orange. I have a video of the one getting shot somewhere.

I think they're using too small of lithium batteries and the charge cut off may be above 4.18. i.e 4.22 , which together can be bad news. It gives you more capacity but when you draw current from it and it gets hot well...boom. I never charge my liions above 4.15 or even a bit lower. I read somewhere this actully prolongs the life and gets you more cycles. Also li-ions are most violotile when fully charged , also you guys may want to check the e cig bat when charged and/or see the charger output.

Wow, pretty crazy. Reminds me of the video about a guy burning his house down because he put several 9 volt batteries in a kitchen junk drawer. They contacted each other or metal in the drawer, shorted out and started a fire :/
