Eve online?

I've been wondering if I should start playing eve online. I heard you either love it or hate it, but I want to know. Does anyone here play eve online and would you suggest me starting?

I heard it can be epic and I believe that. I mean you can destroy someones ship while fighting them and their ship is literally gone forever then, its not like it respawns. I saw eve online also made the news about a month ago or so because of some major battle that happened or something.

Just wanted to know peoples opinions

Thanks

I've always wanted to try eve, but I don't have the time for it :p

I'll have to stick to my casual games for now.

I have had an EVE account for years, but don't play anymore. It is an amazing MMO. It's got a sense of loss like none other... as you surmised, there is no easy respawn. When you lose things, you really feel the pain. However, it is a giant sandbox and not sharded... in that everyone on planet Earth that plays eve, plays in one cloud infrastructure with no sense of "realms" or "servers" that segment the populace (except China - they are special apparently due to government).

I highly recommend EVE. The tutorial system is better than ever before and I think they even have a free trial.

Jump in and learn. If your idea of a massively multiplayer online game is dragons, swords, and spells... then this is going to pop your head right off.

Cheers,

Yeah thanks a lot man. This weekend I decided to start my trial and I am really enjoying it already. I know people have said you wont have fun with the game until you have played for months. Mainly because it takes time to get skills and ships and such. But I am already enjoying it quite a bit.

If I had an extra life to devote to video games, this would be it, I hope I have time to play when I'm retired maybe :) My small trial with Eve was it seemed like the game economy objective was to get lots of RL money from players, make sense as a business model but was a turn off.
