In his Netherlands laboratory, virologist Ron Fouchier was experimenting with the avian flu virus to see how it could become even more virulent. (Red flag.) His research involved spreading it throughout a population of ferrets, and he noticed that as the virus reproduced, it adapted to spread even faster. (RED FLAG.) Not worried about ferret flu? Previous research has shown that any strains of influenza that can pass between ferrets can also pass between humans. (RED FLAAAAAAAAAG.) Ten generations later, his efforts had created an airborne strain with the power could kill half the human population. (RED FUCKING FLAG, DUDE!)

Still have my 3M N95 folding respirators from the N1H1 scare. Fits in a pocket & much easier to wear long term with an exhalation valve. Also half mask P100.
Of course if half the world starts dying there might be a few more problems. Just maybe.
As a species we will be fine. We would still have 3.5 billion left.
So anyway, perhaps the most dangerous weaponized pathogen yet has just been created & they are trying to publish instructions...

They are part number 9211. Amazon seems to have a good price. 3M R9211 10 Cool Flow Particulate Respirator. Google-shopping 3m 9211 n95 "10+pack" OR box.
I brought mine from whoever had stock since a lot of places were out at that time. My half mask P100s were just from a local store years ago. Used mostly for cleaning some mold in a friends basement. Also lead soldering. :tinfoil:

During the N1H1 scare the usa CDC said N95 was enough to block it. You might not want to trust N95 with something more deadly like this weaponized flu tho.
You also need to consider the mass hysteria in a situation like this. A full face respirator or even half mask would be a target for theft IMO. You might want to have it but you should also have some disposable N100 or P100 masks which will blend in with other peoples masks. Add some wrap around sunglasses or goggles. Your eyes just need protection from the fine mist from sneezes & coughing. While you at it a few large cans of pepper spray might be real good in a hysteria situation.

Americans are becoming immune to pepper spray since sitting in a park now deserves a good spraying. I'd say it's time to pack something with a little more kick.
