He produces all of the music sourced from his voice going through guitar effects pedals and a looper to sample all of it into different channels that he can loop or bring in and out at will. The beat and everything is sourced all from his voice.

Give the video time... he goes a little into how he creates the music for the first few minutes but it picks up. He certainly has a very good singing voice.

Live performance:
YouTube - Dub FX live on Amsterdam

Explaining his setup in detail with a demonstration
YouTube - Dub Fx :: insight into the Gear.

I am still amazed every time I watch all the videos on youtube.

Yea. The beats he creates are pretty amazing with just his voice. I have been listening to him for about a month and finally decided to buy his music at Dubfx.net || to help support his music. I almost always buy CDs instead of downloadables but I went with the FLAC versions so I get 100% cd quality and I will just convert it to mp3 for all my portable players. The CDs are expensive because of shipping and EUR conversion.

For a completely different musical style there is another artist that does looping too that I have listened to for about 4 years. Her musical talent is also amazing. Her voice is is so perfect to me. The performance below is an all voice performance but that is not how she normally performs. She seems to have the looping style down. I heard her music first on a wake skating DVD.

Gotta say, thanks for reminding me of this guy's name, I saw him on Wimp a while back and for the life of me I could not remember his name.

I hope you realize that MP3 will destroy the quality you get with FLAC... If I download something in ALAC or AIFF or whatever lossless format it stays that way on my iPod. :)

I am well aware of FLAC vs mp3. Mp3 sounds much better than FLAC with an iPhone. The difference being music or no music at all :). I used to always rip things as ogg back in 2000 on Linux but I finally gave in and have FLAC and mp3 versions of all my music. FLAC for my hifi stereo at home (streamed from pc) and mo3 for portable devices. I don't need all that quality when listening on my mobile Bluetooth stereo headphones. Bluetooth stereo profile just compresses it anyway.

Yep, apple won't let us use FLAC but the idea was supposed to be that you could use ALAC or something... :shhh:
And I guess if you're using BT phones it doesn't really matter. Apparently if you start to move up to nicer, sharper IEMs or studio phones you actually start hearing the jerks and jitters present in low bitrate MP3s. I'm picking up some HJE900s sometime soon and apparently they do this as well.

Q-Bert was banned from the DMC DJ'ing championships in the early 90's because he was too good, no one could beat him, i have the recording of Tony Prince phoning Q-Bert asking him not to apply again
