Brother's a marine science major down in SC (Coastal Carolina U.) and does a lot of diving. He's been slowing building up his equipment; think he asked my dad for a dive bag for Christmas ;D.

He's also headed down to Australia in Feb for 5-6 months to do some study abroad stuff (and of course, dive the reefs and such :D).

Wow that sounds like a ton of fun. The great barrier reef has the worlds most diverse sea life. I'm sure he'll love it.

I'm a certified SCUBA DIVER though I haven't kept my permit current, & now since my back went, so did the diving. I used to dive a lot in a stone quarry in Wisconsin, called France (sp?) Park. Hit 120' on my deepest dive. Saw an old locomotive & a up-side down twin engined plane on the bottom. This particular dive took place in the middle of Aug. but we hit the thermocline at 31', & I left my dive hood & gloves at home, so by the time we got to the bottom, my fingernail beds, lips, & cheeks were all blue, & I was shivering uncontrollably, almost to the point where I really didn't feel like stopping for decompression :-? Almost, but not quite ;) That was my coldest & last dive. Even my wreck dives in Lake Michigan on some barges in about 60' of water weren't that cold. BBBBRRRRRRRR I lost 4 # of body weight from shivering on that dive ! DIETS, who needs 'em, just go diving unprepared, you'll lose weight REAL FAST ;D ;D ;D

Hahaha nice. Seeing a sunken locomotive would be awesome. I've seen a plane and a Sikorsky helicopter. My deepest so far was 124', I never go deeper than 60' without the dry suit, just can't do it.

Which wreck did you dive?
What kind of BC?

We did a Cayman Salvager wreck, actually got to penetrate the wreck, and found a pocket of air down there.. Crazy stuff for me -- my first deep dive!

Then we did a shallow reef dive, it was like swimming in a fish tank. Saw two sea turtles, a 6-7' nurse shark, and hundreds of barracuda.

Great diving down there

She got me an Aeris ATMOS LX

That's a pretty good BC. To what level are you certified? Which organization?

Currently PADI OpenWater. I am working on my Advanced Open Water right now. Its strange, I wish I would have started diving a long time ago, I LOVE IT.

Oh yeah, it's about 100 times more fun than you think it's going to be. I am also PADI.
