Didn't see a thread for general desktop background collections - there's one or two specifically for lasers - so I figured I'd start a more "general" thread.

I've uploaded my rather massive collection (~1800 files/~900MB zipped) to MS OneDrive - feel free to download it - remove what you don't like or whatever. May be some duplicates - I already removed a bunch of stuff I didn't like.

Have actually added more images to the folder on my PC since uploading this one ... will post an updated link once I've added a few hundred more images. ;)

Anyway, link:

That's some interesting art. I wonder what the meaning of it is supposed to be or where he got the ideas from.

I don't know, but I get the impression that some time ago aliens arrived and settled for a while, and then left, but left their machines behind.
Some just aimlessly roam about still.

Here are couple of images I created, I usually use one of these as my desktop background.
Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

I'm sure you posted some of you're stuff before in another thread. Good stuff! :D

The backgrounds I use on my phone, laptop and desktop come from here.

Digital Blasphemy 3D Wallpaper

Ooh those are nice! :)

Great art here, but only makes up a fraction of my wallpapers:
Simon Stålenhag Art Gallery

Love that stuff! Will need to add some of it to my collection.

Thanks for contributing guys!

We are Borg. Your art will be assimilated. It's colours and shapes will be added to our own.

I finally finished looking through all of yours, and I got quite many the same as you. So you got good taste. :D

Although I only got 200, I don't feel like sorting out the ones we got in common, but here is a download. https://www.mediafire.com/?0so2msm6tkx28hx
Also, all are cropped to 16:9 aspect ratio. I like to have my desktop on automatic loop, so this ensures that it will always look nice.

Thanks - will download those shortly! Figured we'd have some of the same when you posted your link - I like that type of art and feel I may have a few from that collection.

A good chunk of mine came from Reddit. These are some of my favourite subs for wallpapers:

/r/Specart
/r/Cyberpunk
/r/City****
/r/Earth****
/r/Space****
/r/Industrial****
/r/ImaginaryTechnology
/r/ImaginaryLandscapes
/r/ImaginaryCyberpunk
/r/Abandoned****
/r/Apocalypse****
/r/Wallpapers
/r/Art

I'm sure I missed a few...

I don't actively look for wallpapers, I just save what I like when I stumble upon a thread, but that is not too often. Not all of what I got are high resolution, but I still save them as placeholders until I perhaps find a better version.

I do both ways! Every now and then I go on a wallpaper hunt.

You're right though, sometimes it is hard to find a high-res version of something really nice though, I usually just live with the lower resolution image and set Windows not to stretch my backgrounds out. :p

I only have a few as I don't change the background very often

I really like his art. I think more post apocalyptic war with AI, but now a new artificial/biological threat is emerging.

I don't either. I've used an all black background since at least 09'

I thought this was going to be one of those "post your desktop screenshot" threads. I do enjoy those.

Alas, I will stick to the rules. The following is what I have on my desktop - a mere screenshot of the incredible game "Limbo". It looks lush on my MBA and is part of a totally monochrome theme I have going on.

Because the game is naturally grainy/fuzzy/gloomy it scales well and would probably be acceptable even on a large HD screen.
