dell 1535 display issue

My friends dell 1535 laptop's screen had a crack in it so i ordered a screen for it off of ebay for him. today I started installing it for him and realized the back light connector was different. after some research, i realized that there was a ccfl backlight, which is what the cracked screen had and a led back light, which is what the new screen came with.

What I'm wondering is if I can by the inverter meant for the led backlight and not fry anything. by looking at pics on ebay, it aperars that the 2 different inverters have the same input plug and seem to be the same size. If it were my computer, I would buy the different inverter and see if it works, but its not mine to fry. lol I have been searching like crazy and haven't found anything. any help is greatly appreciated

Inverter for LED probably steps up the voltage to whatever the array requires. Inverter for CCFL will step it up much higher.

How many pins does the input to the inverter have? I'd say try to find the LED driver module or inverter or whatever they call it. Or call Dell. Sometimes if you are nice, they will give you information you need, like part numbers and where to order.

Thanks for the reply BShanahan14rulz, looking at pics of both inverters, I can tell that they appear to have the same 6 pin input connector and be the same size. Even the led screen is the exact same size as the old ccfl screen.

I'd say go for the LED inverter. I can't see why they'd make the input any different just because someone chose LED over CCFL.

If anything fries, it will likely be the LED inverter. I doubt it would fry the system board or the new LED panel.

If it were my laptop, I would of already gone for the LED inverter, but because it wasn't mine, I didn't want to risk it. Lucky for my friend and I, I was able to ship it back to the seller and get the correct display shipped at the same cost of buying the LED inverter.
