Well today I received my DealExtreme Jet 1300-C Butane Lighter and was excited about it because I ordered it so long ago that I forgot about it. Filled it up with butane and tried lighting it up. All I can will say is watch the video.

That should do the job pretty quick... I know I wouldn't want to handle it.

@DTR That's what makes buying from DX so much fun, when you push the button on their stuff you never know what's going to happen ;)

Hey if you want a really reliable little torch for your build desk for heating heat shrink and what not, the Blazer PB-207 is a really nice, durable little torch...

It is like a jack in the box for a terrorist. I have no hair left on my knuckles after my first attempt to light it. I might want to stick with matches at this point.

Jay I have seen that unit somewhere before. Do you know how much it is shipped? Did not see any prices on their site.

I did actually receive two of these units today and the other is great. So I figure for around $5.50 I got a great little jet lighter.

I'm pretty sure this makes me a bad person, but that's really funny...

When I was younger I worked in a restaurant where everything used propane; on more than one occasion I had them blow up during lighting, which if you're lucky only takes the hair off of your arm up to the elbow. Only once did I loose my eyebrows - which was somewhat less amusing.

DX is full of wonderful surprises.

When I started ordering lasers and bits from them, my wife got hooked on the cheap price and free shipping.

About a year ago or more, she added some nintendo Mario figures to the order as well as a battery operated facial scrubber.

Its one of those things that the ladies use to keep the wrinkles at bay...

So it arrives with my order, and she opens the battery compartment. I hand her 2 AA's, watching her like a kid a xmas...

She pushed the button, nothing... The sponge pad does not spin.. :wtf:
New Duracell's and no action, odd.

Then she noticed the heat coming from the plastic! The inside had shorted the batt's and was quickly tossed in the toilet. After it cooled down a bit, I opened it (though slightly melted inside), it eventually opened.

3.99 for some DX style entertainment. :san:

I would agree the $2.70 is worth the entertainment value.

I will wait to see if they will exchange it. I assume they will make it more expensive to replace than it is worth.

And at that point I will lock it in the always on position and fire it up in a safe area. Then all you have to do is wait for fireball.:eg:

It must be leaking butane where the tank is fitted to the inside of the unit.

LOL @ this thread, DX entertainment!!! I've yet to have any DX surprises myself but have limited to flashlights, batteries and chargers on my orders. Oh, and the blinky LED clip on dog lights lol.

@ DTR: isn't the problem that you used wrong refill gas? I think standard gas for normal lighters can't be used with these (or am I wrong?)... I had simillar buthane lighter and I used refill gas for gas soldering irons (and worked fine)
btw I ordered the mp900 video spy pen for xmas and it didn't work  and as seen on DX produt forum lots of people have the same problem :(

Here is what I used. What should I be using? I would think regardless butane should not come out of the unit anywhere but from the tip. And the other works fine as seen in the video in my last post.
