QUITTING SMOKING.

Okay, like I am the LAST person that should smoke. (actually, no-one SHOULD smoke, but you know what I mean). I've been a moderate to heavy smoker since I was 14. (AND a coffee addict ... "into" gourmet coffee ... perhaps part of the problem ... I'm generally hyperactive)

I am a cardiac patient. My first heart attack was in 1998... I was otherwise "healthy as a horse" (except for smoking and eating too much junk food, such as tacos(!)), having been recently retired from the military (after 22 years) and working out / running often.

At least 1 additional heart attack since then (and possibly a third).

Three surgeries. I've lost count of how many cardiac stents have been implanted (at least 5-7 or so).

I started to develop COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).

A couple of weeks ago, I managed to quit cigarettes for 3 days, gave up - short term memory started to go, started getting so jittery as to start "vibrating". Getting cranky.

SO... Very early last saturday morning, I run out of cigarettes ... on purpose.

Its been Saturday thru most of Wednsday - 5 days now.

I WANT TO KILL SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!

Homicidal tendencies will pass... but not soon. Also expect to start eating some more tacos...

For a relatively short time in college I was smoking 2-4 packs a day... basically non stop for two semesters.

I also have an addiction to caffeine, and I'm sure some cardiac problems are in my future... I'm still relatively your though.

I know it might sound crazy, but pick up some chop sticks or something similar, gum also helps, so do carrots, but I was too lazy for that.

To this day I still on occasion reach for a cigarette out of habit, although now I smoke only on rare occasions, once every couple of months, or maybe a hookah when going out.

Ever since they brought out the throwback its even worse.

Seen you post about caffeine addiction so I thought I'd bring it up :p

All that throwback shit is gross.

How to make throwback: Take a giant spoonful of cane sugar. Put in favorite soft drink. You now have throwback version. Take sip and spit out.

I got a bunch of people in high school, and a whole bunch (almost the whole floor) hooked on no doz. Originally my addiction started in the summer of my sophomore year in high school.

Mountain Dew was nice, but the caffeine content was to low. Since then I've tried every legal stimulant:p

haha yeah, thats what everybody tells me thats why I'm pretty sure I'm addicted to it I'll drink it with no problem :p

I've never tried that before, not much on stimulants though

In college one of my roommates never understood how I could drink a 16oz cup of coke before going to sleep:p

My favorite so far has been modafinil, but at $10 a pill, kind of price considering I need 2-4 a day for optimum efficiency. There was also the little problem of me not sleeping for about a week at a time:eek:

Years ago, when I actually smoked pot, sometimes we would fill the bowl up with weed and shave Vicodin on top of it.

So that's what that was...
