And this is with their population control in action? When I even go to New York its dizzying and have no idea how they can function and even keep records of people and "kinda" control all out caos. Where to people in China even park their cars never less even knowing which one car or scooter is theirs, the majority of them seem to be painted white. I did not see any type of way of resolving that traffic jamb, also there had to be deaths due to exhaustion, dehydration or what ever other incidences of them not being prepared "or they could be from lessons learned" I dont know how accurate of a count the billions living in China is. To me thats insane:eek:

Anyone here with children should probably have them learn Mandarin as a second language.

In many ways asian countries, not just china, are surpassing the US. Bangkok for example is bigger than new york, and far surpasses it in terms of chaos. Some aspects of life there seem backward, but other, are easily on par, and surpassing western/US standards.

NYC the modern western standard is not even in the top 10 most expensive cities in the world, neither is any US city... Singapore Tops EIU?s List of World?s Most Expensive Cities | Observer

The biggest difference imo, is you end up seeing a far more drastic separation between people who are extremely poor, and people who are middle class and better.

I do agree learning an asian language would be helpful... If I had kids I would definitely have them learn it in addition to spanish and russian.

It will be interesting to see how an aging population will affect China.

The jade rabbit is on the moon looking for helium3 and China may become energy independent ahead of us, this will tip the balance drastically.

While we light up the White house in rainbow colors they forge ahead.

Something to be said about the "other" side of the world for sure!! They idolize engineers, programmers, intellects and designers and what do people in the USA idolize? Druggies chasing around balls, fake plastic hollywood and singers on stage ... smh :(

More people probably 1000 to 1 know about who karpdashians new babby daddy is than the xray trucks driving around scanning us in our cars.

Yes, we idolize sports and crapola while Japan and China reward academic excellence and are embarrassed if the show off physically, they are proving to be better people, but American culture ruins much of the world now, how sad is that, we should be leading the way in more than diabetes.

You make a great point: In this country, and some others, science is a dirty word.

Understanding how the universe works, via math, physics, cosmology, astronomy, biology, chemistry, etc...is pursued by a minority of those in the US, and some school districts even discourage the teaching of science if its in conflict with the Koran in some Muslim countries, and the Bible in the US, etc.

Some go so far as to teach kids that science is a religion, evolution is "only a theory" etc.

So the Chinese kid learns that the universe is billions of years old, the earth is billions of years old, has tectonic plates that move across it, that spacetime can be warped, that matter and energy are a product of spacetime, and how things evolve...

...and the US kid is taught that the earth and universe is 6k years old, and that scientists lie....and global climate change is a hoax, evolution is a hoax, spacetime and so forth is a hoax, etc.

:D

A citizen on the street in the US IS more likely to know about the Kardashians' Entanglements than Quantum Entanglements.

They ARE more likely to know the names of celebrities, than the types of isotopes of carbon in the atmosphere...and if they don't know the types of carbon isotopes, and therefore don't know which are from man made sources, and which are from natural sources, they have no basis for judging the contribution of man made carbon to the atmosphere...

...and if taught that scientists lie, they can be easily manipulate by political forces.

The Chinese students know the isotopes, and understand science, and global climate change as it relates to mankind's contribution, etc.

Ironically, they know this, while, in some chinese cities, choking on pollution levels that mimic our 1970's era smog issues before air emissions regulations were enacted in the US...and at least OUR air eventually got clean enough to not kill us (as quickly). Of course, in the '70's, the US had not been anti-science as much yet...we had space missions, etc...and a burst of scientific enthusiasm.

:D

You used to be the greatest nation on earth, founded on The Word of God, your Constitution is based on The Word of God.
You went to the moon and quoted the Bible from the moon, you were richly blessed for your support for the Nation of Israel.

... then you took out prayer out of your schools, you mocked the Word of God your nation was founded upon.
You allowed bloodshed of your unborn/unwanted citizens and forbade the teachings of the Bible openly in your education system.
You chose your leaders based upon the lies they fed you and you lost your 'discernment of truth' because of the filth you filled your minds via the media programs you chose to view and the drugs you chose to take.

You call me eternal, then do not seek me
You call me fair, then do not love me
You call me gracious, then do not trust me
You call me just, then do not fear me
You call me life, then do not choose me
You call me light, then do not see me
You call me Lord, then do not respect me
You call me master, then do not obey me
You call me merciful, then do not thank me
You call me mighty, then do not honor me
You call me noble, then do not serve me
You call me rich, then do not ask me
You call me Savior, then do not praise me
You call me shepherd, then do not follow me
You call me the Way, then do not walk with me
You call me wise, then do not heed me
You call me Son of God, then do not worship me
When I condemn you, then do not blame me.

Regarding the Chinese fusion breakthrough - I believe the breakthrough was actually the length of time they sustained plasma for. The temperature doesn't break any records. But long run times are good, we need that for fusion to work well and actually return some energy. That said, Tokamaks probably aren't going to be the way forward for break even fusion, although they are good research tools. Maybe I'll be proven wrong when ITER is finished. For now I'm keeping my eye on the progress of the Stellarator in Germany.

China has been making some strides with their science and technology, they are still a fair way behind the West, although they are catching up ever more quickly.

I wish every nation would just come together and collaborate on all things science and technology - maybe then we'd see some great progress on a global scale.

As for religion in schools - I see no reason why religion shouldn't be taught - but don't just teach one, teach a whole bunch. I went to a Catholic high school and while the majority of religion classes were focused on Catholicism, there were classes about other religions too. Nothing wrong with learning about the world and different cultures. That said, we were also taught real, factual science, not this "the earth is 6,000 years old" stuff.

I often think if all of mankind worked together we could do so much.

But actually nothing motivates us as much as competition.

A lot has to do with the fact that we get too soon old and too late wise.

Our best years of mental and physical health are spent just getting up to speed.

The greed of mankind that motivates us also turns our government against the good of us all, that's why old men make the best presidents, they have already made their fortune, chased all the tail they wanted, and are ready to do great things for future generations as their time grows short.

This is a bit off topic but can anybody clear this up. I guess I could just google it but I want member info and feelings on this, here goes.........

Most believe we went to the moon but some believe it was all just hollywood and propaganda.
The landings were done on parts of the moon that face the earth and good sized equipment was left behind. There is no wind to cover the items with dust and with today's advanced optics. Can't humans look at the moon with today's equipment and "see" the items and prove them right or wrong?
I realize that the moon is ~ 238,900 miles away from earth but still....

Thoughts and facts???

Also, is there anyone here who feels that the USA did not go to the moon?

First Amendment;

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Thoughts and facts???

Fact: There are mirrors left on the moon you can bounce a laser off of.

There were some pictures of the landing sites taken from a satellite that was sent up there a few years ago. I'll need to dig them up!

I believe we landed there!
