Hey folks,

Due to many requests i have been considering to do this. After one last request I decided to do it!

A cat sliding tutorial ( On floors or carpets )

What do you need?

- NO LASER! ( Don't annoy your cat before sliding it on the floor with a laser because he WILL retaliate!)
- Smooth carpet or smooth floor ( Any material will do! ) I recommend laminate
- Cat/kitteh/kitten/etc. WITH furr ( Use genius cats only for epic lolz! )
- Maybe some restful background music

How does it work? (Six simple steps)

step 1: I recommend to feed the cat a little treat before sliding it. This will determine the mood of the cat.

Step 2: let the cat relax and purr for around 15 minutes by petting him, so that it is totally relaxed. ( Allready at destination sliding underground )

Step 3: Make sure the cat is lying down on the floor when you make the cat relax! ( Almost like hypnotisation

Step 4: Slowly put your hand on a supportive place (Like the back) on the kitteh and make the cat comfortable with it.

Step 5: Start pushing VERY slowly untill the cat starts sliding. This is the worst part. ( The first push causes the most friction )

Step 6: Behold EPICNESS Let somebody tape it or treat your kitteh afterwards for future sliding!

Our kitten playing with her wrecking ball (or "mouse" as it is sometimes known). She since broke the string repeatedly in response to us tying it back up to the point where there was not enough string to tie it back together, ate the bell, ripped out the tail and is in the process of pulling the rope off the outside. She'll probably get tired of it after that. Back when it still hung quite well, i would stack up some toilet roll tubes nearby and see how long it took her to swing the wrecker far enough to knock them over.

I tried sliding her along the floor and along the walls during playtime. She meowed when i slid her along the wall but wasn't too bothered, but when i slid her along the floor she bit me. Now, with the use of this tutorial, i'll be able to do it without getting bitten! Very useful, thank you +1

@ped: That is DEFINITELY something I'm trying using our bigger cat Sigmund. How many times do you think it can be done before they learn not to partake?


Edit: Just watched the video. It seems Chez needs steadier hands But it makes me smile seeing how tiny our kitten was - she's a lot bigger now.

Molly is the eldest of our 3 cats, yet you would think she's the youngest...any hand presented to her while shes in a frisky mood gets shredded instantly, I still bear the scars...but I wouldnt changer for the world haha.

A meaningful tutorial !

Do you think substituting a 2 year old for the cat might work as well ?
Come to think of it, perhaps not would be better.
What if he likes it and wants me to keep doing it all the time ?
Maybe with a sweeping pad or something under his back...that might be the answer...
Would I get in trouble from the authorities for using my son to dry mop the floors ?
Will my back survive pushing and pulling him all over the floors ? (There are 3 levels to be done...ouch.)

Maybe stick to the cats/kittens.

That's a brilliant idea! I'm definitely doing it with my 3-year-old nephew and 1-year-old neice right after I do it with Midori! Then maybe I'll get fed up of sliding and go back to confusing by clicking fingers.

Actually, that's another fun game. You wait 'til your cat is looking the wrong way, then you move your hand behind their head and click your fingers then whisk it away quickly so when they turn around they don't see anything and have no idea what made the noise. Repeat until the cat is severely confused.

Do you have a bigger video of the sliding cat ? If you show it to the cat maybe it will recognize it and gets the idea of the whole thing. Cats always love to watch.

I don't have the video of his specific cat anymore i believe but maybe i can make one with my own cat lol I've been training him for a while too

I'm noticing the second cat in the avatar.
He is showing a great deal of interest in the proceedings.
Not sure if it was to catch the strange moving "prey" or just watching to make sure it wasn't next.
And that first one sure looks a lot like a ferret as it goes by...

BTW. A completely harmless trick to pull on a cat. gently tie a dish-towel or light duty cloth around the mid section of a cat. It won't be able to walk or balance on it's feet. Looks a lot like it is drunk.
It seems that a cat has some hairs on the mid part of the body that help it keep it's balance. When you tie a cloth around it and press those hairs flat against it's body it can't stand.
Just be warned ! Take it off fairly quickly or the cat may figure out that you did it and take it's frustrations and anger out on you.
Not the kind of fun that is worth stitches !
