Ok, next spring I'll be purchasing a new car. I've decided it's going to be a Dodge Magnum SRT8, because I really need an suv (I loath suv's) but don't want to give up the feeling of driving a powerful car. So, Magnum SRT8 is about the only option I have. My dilemma is that I can't decide if I want an 07 or an 08. I see things I like about both, but I really can't decide which I think would be better.

Which do you guys prefer? I got both of them in that same color for control purposes.

thanks guys!

Kinda looks like a muscle-car station-wagon to me... not really what I'd pick. But, maybe the '08 as it has a less "overdone" and "bulgy" front-end that Dodge likes to do for some reason ::)

Sorry if it seems like I'm putting down your taste in vehicles... I'm more into the sleek look than the angular/boxy look.

I wouldn't recommend the Magnum (or any Chrysler for that matter) but I'm going for the 2007 because what American companies like to do is add useless fins and holes. Perfect example? The Viper.

It's cool. I really, really want an 03-04 Terminator Cobra (this would work!), but alas, it's so unreasonable for me that I can't even justify it to myself. Hell, I just sold my 12 second 97 Cobra a couple weeks ago. Right now, the hotrod station wagon is the only thing that can haul kids, friends, German shepherds and ass all at the same time, so it's my only real option.

Actually, those fins and hold on the SRT are active, the ones in the bumper are brake coolers, and the new one on the hood is supposedly good for cooling.

Other than the looks, the cars are identical except the 08 has remote start standard and HID's

Still, those Americans are good at inventing reasons to put more fins on.

What's the price difference between the two?

The price difference is negligible regardless of the year, because either way I'm going to buy one with under 10k miles. With that low of miles, they cost $27k- 29k. Except for some sheet metal, they are still the same car.

I love how Dodge flashes the word 'HEMI' like it's something unique. Many car manufacturers use hemi or semi-hemi combustion chambers. Why is Dodge so special? I have a friend with an '83 Honda Accord which has a hemi head, lolz. It's just an element of proper engine design...

Go for the 07, the hid in the 08 would be annoying, they always put like a 6000k bulb which is very blue and makes everything look weird.

btw, enjoy your 425 hp 6.1 liter hemi. ;) ;) ;)

Coming from a 4v Cobra, it's the 420 ft-lbs that I really enjoy in these cars. :p Everyone knows n/a Cobras are torque-less wonders down low! lol

Seriously. I LOVED telling people my old Cobra had a hemi (not Hemi) in it. The resident redneck ignorami always asked me why I put a Dodge motor in a Mustang. Some seemed genuinely incapable of understanding that hemi is a design that other manufacturers can use.

Good point. Plus if I get one in my beloved bright red, it'll probably look purple with those lights sometimes. :-/
