Got this in an Email from PayPal

On February 11 2013, Canada Post will introduce two lower-cost trackable services for US and International shipments: Tracked Packet – USATM and Tracked Packet – InternationalTM. These services will be an attractive option for PayPal customers who are sending shipments under 1kg to the USA, or under 2kg to other supported countries. The ability for PayPal customers to print shipping labels for these two new services will be available shortly.
With the upcoming introduction of these two new services, Canada Post will retire their Small Packet – USA Ground service effective January 14. This means we are discontinuing the USA Surface Small Packets service for PayPal customers using the print shipping label feature. PayPal customers who attempt to access USA Surface Small Packets service on the PayPal website may experience an error message until this service is removed from the online menu later this month.
Additionally, there are changes to insurance options for a select number of shipping services offered by PayPal for customers using the shipping label tool. Effective January 14, customers will no longer receive any liability coverage on packages sent with Small Packets services, and will no longer receive complimentary insurance on Regular Parcel service.
Tracked Packet – USATM and Tracked Packet – InternationalTM will become available via PayPal shipping label printing very soon. We’ll have more details regarding timing and label printing discounts for these services shortly.

Cheap tracked mail for Canadians! It's about time!

Lol... At Canada post.

I pay ~18,000-21,000W ($16.50-$18)for a parcel under 200g with 2 weeks/10days option by EMS/Korea post.
the same option costs be nearly $80CDN using Canada post.
Canada post is WAY WAY overpriced.
Good thing I don't have to ship documents from Canada anymore. I'd have gone broke long time ago. 5 day courier is ~$90.00 -$100 CDN. Here in Korea it's only $20CDN.
Boy we Canadians certainly get gouged by poorly run (ex.crown crops)

That's because CanadaPost is the only government run postal agency that makes a profit/breaks even.

It makes it hard for Canadians to compete with American businesses when they can ship from the USA to Canada for less than we can from Canada to Canada.

Well, it's no longer a crown corporation. It's a private company now.
Still, we are getting gouged.

One of the nice things about being in Asia is relatively cheap (high quality) mail.

Yeah we do have to remember that at least canadapost is in a financially good place, unlike usps which is going broke due to being unsustainable.

Huh, I did not know that. As spyrorocks pointed out though, Canada Post isn't in the shitter, but even so the prices are a lot.

Reminds me of checking prices of importing goods from Germany and the cost was less -- including shipping -- than it cost a person to buy it from within Germany because of the taxes.

Well neither is EMS in Korea, used by Korea post. However they can charge a much reduced rate. 1/4 compared to Canada in most cases. They also have a faster service.
5 days means 5 days or less.

"lower cost" I guess it could mean one cent, it could mean two.

They say the are discontinuing USA surface packages in favour of the new shipping options, so I'm assuming the prices will be similar to the 6$ I paid for that service.

They have it for international too, 47$ though :cryyy:
(For a 10x15x5 400g package)

International parcel - Surface is still 10$ cheaper & tracked. I'm sticking with that.
