ok so one of my friends just bought a new sony cybershot because his Nikon coolpix L11 6MP camera is broken and he gave it to me. from what I can tell it looks like the lens is jammed and when you turn it on it says lens error on the screen. can this be fixed at home or should I take it in or just throw it away?

it should be a super easy fix once you get it apart. It looks like it's just a bit wedged, and as soon as you straighten it out it should be fine.

Look for any tiny screws you can find, open up any covers to look for them. Also, sometimes they use 'clips' to hold them together and it may just be a matter of prying it apart carefully.

I took out every screw on there and tried to pull it apart but it feels like it's going to break if I pull too hard :-/

gotta get that board off. I recently look apart a little digital camera as well. If was a bit hard to figure out how to get it apart but just take your time and you'll figure it out. Watch out for the big capacitor in there though.... it will give you a decent shock ;D

well I can see how to get it off, but I can't get to the screws without cutting off bits of the board :-/ I took the batteries out so I think I'm fine ;D I made a tazer out of a disposable camera once and it does give one helluva shock apperently (never shocked myself only friends :p)
