As people have said, the blue writing is just a projector, NOT a laser!

You'd want a projector that is capable of atleast 4000 lumens, preferably 6K lumens.

You can download the software free, then all you need is a laptop, GOOD webcam (atleast 1.3m pixels, more = more accurate tracking) and a green pointer. Although, if you are going to try this, be aware it can be illegal in your country, and could annoy people that happen to be in the building at the time, it's best to check with the building owner first.

Definitely real, ( at least the concept, idk about that pointer) I do this all the time. The program is free to download and all you need is a green (or red) pointer, a projector (I use a 3k and I can do a 3 story house ) and a webcam.

It does look fake. It's a little too smooth, especially compared to the real one by GRL.

The projector could be land-based, of course. What bugged me the most was that the guy's hand stays so steady, but after seeing the GRL one, I guess that's possible.

Still very cool.

I remember a cupple of years ago, people paid by Coca Cola were spamming Norwegian forums with links to youtube commercials promoting Coca Cola Zero, and a short casual comment, like, “Hey guys, check out this funny vid i found on Youtube”.

Sony did the same sort of thing with the original PSP. They also hired graffiti artists to tag places in Europe advertising the PSP, but I think that plan died very quickly for "some reason."

Are you guys sure it's fake? I think the police thing at the end was but have you seen that one avatar? I forget who's it is but its a buch of writing and pac man on the side of a building and it is being controlled by a laser and something else. I'm pretty sure there was a thread about it.

It looks like there is fog in the beam.

I agree with the boat moving thing though, I just don't know.

You mean my avatar?

I've literally been where they are in the vid. It was extremely foggy, everynight. Some nights you could barely see the bridge, even as lit up as it is.

Lookin through my photos of that trip, the boats across the river on the right kinda look like the boat they used o_O

The OP vidoe is fake. You can easly see how the beam's angle is moving allot at the aperture.

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with FireMyLaser. Note how he doesn't mess up at all.. (his hands were perfectly steady)

It's not humanly possible to get that nice of writing that far away. I have a hard enough time writing my name on a glowing sign at 6' let alone 300'.

500 whoot.

Looks pretty cool but vandalism in any way is not so cool.

Well, if it causes no permanent damage, inconveniences no one, and displays thought provoking public art, it's pretty damn cool if you ask me.
Writing your name in bubble letters on an overpass isn't art, and since cleaning it up comes out of my tax dollars, yeah, that's not cool, but something like this, or for instance the guy in my town who does replicas of fine art using chalk, that's all kinds of awesome. Some graffiti, like the work of Banksy, is so sought after that people will pay to have a section of a brick wall removed and reassembled in a gallery. Graffiti can be great!
