I want to make one of these (or simpler, similar) but i cannot find any detailed plans on how to make one (something that isnt in another language or an animation.

You should be able to find most all of them parts at your local hardware store and the ones they don't have get off the net.

How much pressure you want to use it at? Does it have to be metal? Home (<----- spudfiles) is a good place to look on how to make piston valve (made from pvc, they have better flow and faster opening times then commercial ones)

Here is a link to a pdf on how to make a 2" piston valve http://www.mediafire.com/?yyay0yzvdqt

Looking at the Video I can see what you are trying
to build...
Get parts for a Paint Ball gun trigger mechanism... they
should work exactly as your looking for...

I've made one my self...

Basically how it works is, you have a piston that acts as a valve and presses against the barrel to seal it when the tank is full. You then release pressure from the opersite side of the barrel, which in turn pulls the piston back, thus letting all the air out the front.

In my design I machined a piston from some very dense plastic (Which I still have if you want one machined). I then places a sealing gasket on the front as shown below.

This was my second of three attempts for the piston. I don't have pictures of my final product... sorry. But I do how ever have pics of my first attempt (that failed miserably). So here is a picture of my first attempt. We are looking down on the piston with the air chamber removed.

Basically in my design, I wanted it as a one shot rifle... you can how ever mount a air blower attachment so you can shoot multiple shots.

BB vortex guns are cool. The only problem with the one from burnt latke is that its not an inline vortex so there is no plunger pushing the bb's towards the vortex. So, you have to shake the gun a lot.

A bumper is like a dampener.... it basically slows the piston down instead of letting the piston smash into the backstop when you let the pressure out.
