I kinda use clip and magazine in different situations. "empty the clip" is just a more theatrical usage. I know it is technically wrong, but i do know the difference.

Ok... back to guns. I never really warmed to Glocks. I have two (a G22 and a G20). I kinda bought the G20 on a whim at a gun show because I always wanted a 10mm and the price was right. I don't know. I hate the triggers on Glocks. The feel is awful. The actions are kinda sloppy, too. I don't find them very accurate. I mean they group plenty tight enough for life and death, but not really for target shooting. At least not if you like consistency. Some people swear by them. I understand the simplicity factor they are going for, but comparing them to a Hk or a FN is like comparing a bic lighter to a gold Dunhill Rollagas. Speaking of FNs... I got a FNX-40 about two months ago. My second FN. Very sweet piece. My first FN was a Five-seveN. Hated that gun. Sold it three months after I got it. Ammo is too damn expensive to practice with enough to stay proficient with it. I sent it back to the factory twice because it kept throwing two or three fliers per mag consistently. I thought it was me after I got it back the first time, so I shot it from a rest and it still threw fliers. Plus, I don't trust the stopping power of that round. If you miss center chest in a pressure situation with a .40 and it slams into your shoulder or thigh you are going down. That little zipper might just pass right through. Don't trust it.

A friend of mine has a desert eagle 50AE, it's fun but waaaaaay too expensive to shoot, like $2 per shot. And way too big to carry, it pretty much just stays in the safe. Although it is pretty accurate for being such a hand cannon!

Yeah. People only carry Eagles in the movies. By the time a person got that boat anchor out of the holster I'd have already shot them like 5 times. :crackup:

When I was buying my concealed carry gun, I tried just about everything under the sun.

Glocks, HK's, FN fiveseven, sig 226/229/250, S&W MP series, kimber ultra carry etc etc etc

I settled on the springfield XDm. close to 2000 rounds and never a FTF, FTE, no failure of any kind. It took a bit of practice to get used to the trigger, but now I'm really accurate with it, all the way out to 25 yards.

My second choice would have been a glock, but two things steered me away. First, I hated the grip angle. The XD series 'handles' like a 1911, which a really like. Second, I had two stovepipes with two different glocks, and I wasn't limpwristing or anything like that. It was probably just a fluke, because I hear nothing but good things about glocks. Also, the gun just wasn't very accurate, or I should say I wasn't very accurate with the gun.

I love the feel of a 1911, but I just didn't like the idea of carrying a single action hammer-fired pistol.

The best of both worlds seemed to be the XDm. Striker fired, built in grip safety, trigger safety, firing pin block and I could punch holes through the bullseye with it all day long. AND I love the fact that I can carry 16+1 .40S&W!!

Yes, a full size 4.5" XDm is a bit large for concealed carry, but I'm 6'2" 215lbs. I carry it in a crossbreed supertuck and it just disappears under a normal t-shirt.

Fun story, guys-today I had the bright idea of shooting an egg while filming it from about a foot away with a camera on a piece of wood. Well, I hit the egg in just a way that all the yolk sprayed to the side and was deposited perfectly on the lens of my camera :banghead: and now my camera has goo all over the mechanism. It's a cool video though, I would upload it but the satellite connection here is slower than dial-up. Another thing I did today was blow up a thick lead bar with an R700 chambered in .270, and it blew the whole target board away! We're talking about a quarter inch plywood sheet secured by 3 other pieces of plywood probably an inch thick! All of them just got ripped apart lol, the force was tremendous.

XDm is a really nice weapon. Again, I don't like the trigger too much, but everything else is top notch. I was really impressed with the balance on this weapon. What caliber did you choose? (just curious). I'm seriously considering getting one of these in .45 I have too damn many .40s

I've had the same problem with my G20. It stovepipes with PMC JHPs and Rem Golden Sabers. Seems to eat everything else fine, but I happen to like PMC ammo. My USP on the other hand eats anything. Of course the worst piece of shit in my collection is a Bersa Thunder 9. I bought it off a friend for $150 bucks. Now I understand why he was selling it so cheap. Now I'm stuck with it. You can't give these damn things away. I've yet to find any ammo this thing will feed reliably. I brought to my gunsmith to see if anything was wrong with it and he just laughed.

Just clay targets here. I've done some small-caliber/rimfire target stuff before, but as of now I'm pretty much exclusively a shotgun/clay target shooter. My shotguns, and other firearms for that matter, have been posted in this section before, they shouldn't be too hard to find. I think the thread was titled "The Gun Show".

And lasers are definitely the cheaper hobby I fall back on when I don't have the money to shoot as much. When I head to the range, my single gun case that I take with me, with 2 target shotguns in it, is insured for over $10,000. And that's just what I take with me clay target shooting; everything else at home will only add a few grand more, though. Then target fees and ammunition, plus travel expenses for tournaments when I was competing nationally full-time, and lasers are down right cheap, relatively speaking.

Used to do targeting when i was young ..... but, are at least 20 years that i don't have the time for go in a targeting center and spend some hours filling targets with holes ..... i guess i still remember how to use a rifle or a gun, but at the same time, guess i have lost the "touch" for place 8 .22 holes in 50mm space at 100 meters with a rifle and a scope, as i was used when i was 20 ..... maybe today, at 48, probably i can still hit the target somewhere (or at least the target holder, LOL)

Hey! Us forty somethings can still shoot. Check out Hickok45's youtube channel sometime. He's in his 60s and is deadly accurate. I especially like his video where he shoots a 1911 at 230 yards. The delay between shot and hit is cool. .45 moves so slow. lol!

i shoot .22LR and 303 and 308 ,military rifles...
i have a Benjamin Franklin ~50-80 Year old BB rifle that is broken (licenced) i can fix it if i can get the valve out of the pump...its either silver solded in or coroded in..i think its coroded. to get to it you have to use a long ronged rod to poke down the "plunger tube"
to undcrew it.....if anyone can help post here or PM me

Benjamins are made of brass usually unless it's a stainless model. The brass ones most of the joints and such are brazed with brass. The valve is most likely screwed in, thou. This is a great airgun forum: Air Gun Home :: Index

Yes, but, i suppose he's not remained stopped from targeting for 20 years, as i had to stop for lack of time ..... (if you don't count BB guns, that for me is not targeting, is playing )

I have a Red Ryder.

I also have a Career 707 pre-charged pneumatic pellet gun. Throws an 80 grain 9mm pellet (pellet?) at around 850fps. It is bar none the ugliest gun in the world, but a load of fun to shoot. No pumping or hard springs to worry about. You do have to buy a scuba tank to fill the sucker with, thou. When I first got it I charged it up and taped a target to a couple of pieces of 3/4" plywood in the garage. Well, it went through those and punched a hole through the door on the wife's new front loading washing machine. Yeah, she was pissed.

I own a Kimber stainless target II in 9mm and really like it.

Mike, I used to own the PPKs, and really liked it. It's an accurate and skinny little pistol. California just made that a Law enforcement only weapon last month. Probably because it's so small and very accurate. Kudos on still having one. Bond...........James Bond

I won't comment on my collection. I qualified again for my CCW here and the officer, after 40 rounds, commented " you're pretty comfortable with that little gun". Walther PPK-s 380 !!! I was shooting 5 shot rapid fire in ~ 2 seconds per stage.

It's a decent pistol, are they gonna make guns illegal cause they're any good? It's no surprise to me that California is rapidly losing money and gaining debt, the government isn't very smart here...

I own an xd9 sc, ruger lcp, and a ruger sr9c but I am going to sell that. I want a revolver for the safe, so probably an s&w airweight. I'm not really into shooting, just carry a gun for protection for my job. I do too much work in Detroit to not have a gun.

I carry my 460 S&W mag in an ankle holster :na: .. Looks like a medical problem though :undecided:

The velocity of the 460 is amazing ..... 48 gr of H110 with a rifle primer gets your attention:bowdown:
