A while ago, a guy claiming to be an FBI agent threatened to confiscate my Spyder, but we realized that he was probably fake. In any case, I decided not to take out the laser again, just to be on the safe side.

I'm surprised that so many of you would just hand over your property just like that. Police (at least those in the U.S.) can only seize something if they have a warrant, or if they have probable cause to believe that you're committing a crime. But then again, what constitutes "probable cause" is subjective to the officer. Personally, I would not hand over anything unless I was threatened with arrest, in which case I would insist that I be allowed to hand it over at a police station instead of on the spot, if possible.

Here is one of mine
I have always hated magpies, if you are a farmer, you usually know the crap they do.
Magpies will pick on a sick/injured cow by pecking out its eyes if it can't fight back or even pecking a hole in the side of the animal. Then, when the cow dies (eventually), they have a nice big meal.
I grew up in a decent sized city but also spent a lot of time living out in the bush. Bad combo I made a blowgun with a 40" piece of tv antenna and made darts out of q-tips and a pin, an empty .22 brass, or a 6" dowel with a sharpened finishing nail and some cotton. The dowel version were kind of a "one time fire" thing but the penetration is amazing. I took my little creation and went magpie hunting :na:
Over the years I have probably killed about 200-225 magpies just with the blowguns but I did get chased by the cops one time. Didn't take long to lose them just by following bike paths and doubling back on one way streets.
There was another guy that thought I was killing his squirrels, I chatted (argued at first) with the guy and he finally took notice of the dead magpie in his alley. I went over to his place for years after that, we made different kinds of darts and his wife would even make me cookies and stuff when I went out "hunting" lol.
Also got chased by "hawks" police helicopter, we hadn't done anything wrong though. Me and a buddy were just hanging out with new friends on Canada day after watching the fireworks. We had been riding (mountainbikes) for around 8 hours already that day/night but both of us were used to a lot of riding per day. The helicopter showed up and shone his spotlight on us, I looked over at my buddy and said "jackrabbit" so we bolted in opposite directions (just for fun ^_^).
The helicopter followed me and must have called some cars because a few sirens came on, on in front of me and one somewhere near Kale had gone off to. My mother had her business right in that area so I was quite familiar with it. To lose the helicopter, I ended up having to duck behind a building, quickly lock my bike to a gas station propane tank, and run around the building with the heli on the other side. I had to run a few blocks but they gave up pretty quick. Met up with Kale at the nearest LRT station (those were our "trouble" meeting points) and we went home.
I got chased by cop cars a few times after that but the helicopter was the hardest to lose. :crackup:

@Nanolaser: can i refuse to give my laser to the cops? what conseqences if possible?

I want to put my fogger on the street(ofcource on our ground), and then shine all my lasers through it on 23:59 at 31 december.

Might Makes Right. When someone with a gun and the Authority of the State confronts you, and you don't have any witnesses, what can you do? In court if it is your word vs a sworn police officer the court always sides with the LEO.

If you refuse you risk being beaten and then charged with obstruction, resisting arrest, distributing the peace, assault, or what ever else the cop and DA come up with.

If you google: arrested video taping police : you can find a lot of horror stories about people facing felony charges for taping police misconduct. Even if the charges are dropped, the victims are often bankrupt from legal fees.

Here's the problem. If the cop sees you out using your laser in public(which can be a crime) then he has all of the "probable cause" that he needs to confiscate and destroy(keep) your laser.

Personally I hate most cops. Bunch of lying, corrupt, power-abusing pigs. There are some cool cops around, but where I live that doesn't seem to be the case. The cops seem to love doing illegal searches for weapons/drugs etc and even if you win the court case they ended up costing you thousands in legal fees and they royally screwed up your life. They seem to think that they're above the system and that the end justifies the means.

Also a lot of cops were stereotypical thugs or bullies in school and wanted a career where they could continue to pick on defenseless people without consequence.

-Now for a fun story
There's this one guy I know who was speeding trying to get to work on time. He got pulled over by a cop for the speeding and then the cop wanted to search the car for drugs or w/e. The guy didn't have any drugs in the car, but refused for the principal of it. The cop had no probably cause or reason to search the car. Anyway the cop then held him up there for about 30 minutes and had a police dog brought in to sniff at the car. They knew that if the dog barked it would then give them cause to search for drugs. They never did find any drugs and held the guy up for over an hour unnecessarily making him miss a meeting at work.

It would be nice if they would actually just do something to reduce crime. A few months ago I got my Mt Bike stolen - grab and run right in front of me. A few hours later I saw the douche bag riding around on my bike. Called the cops, and by the time they showed up, the thief had spotted me and took off. In the end it was easier to get a weapon, confront the guy and take my bike bike back by force.

When the Rodney King riots happened in LA, the police fled and abandoned the city to looters, my neighbors and I had to build barricades, and have armed watched to guard the local drug store from looters and molotov toting gangstas.

When ever I'd been a victim of a mugging, theft or robbery the police have tried to discourage me from filing a report - they have stated that unless I'm seriously injured or the theft is a felony like GTA that they will not investigate.

They won't protect us and they won't allow us to protect ourselves.

I'm not sure where you live, but in most U.S. states, it is illegal to protect property with deadly force unless one's life is in danger.

I prefer blunt weapons, but yeah. Didn't actually have to brandish it. He was just a two-bit thug and I caught him alone and away from his "homies" - so he dumped the bike and ran...

Its getting to be a war zone in our cities. I live in what is supposed to be a nice neighborhood, and we just had a resident shot and killed when he confronted a gang vandal on a busy street in the early evening.

That makes me sad... why are there so many laws protecting criminals? However, I think the worst charge that you could get for making it clear to the criminal that you have a gun is illegal brandishing, and even that is a stretch.

Law enforcement is a unionized trade, so the laws are not to protect the criminal, but to protect the jobs of the police, court workers, parole officers, prison guards, social workers, etc. A dead criminal generates no work.

Also the crooks have their own "unions" called gangs, and the gangs are very good at direct activism. If people defend themselves too aggressively against the crooks, the gangs state riots and cause millions of dollars of damage.

We had a couple of Korean shopkeepers who fought back against gangs, and eventually the gangs went on a ethnic cleansing rampage thru the Korean district in 1992.

Remember that case where all those europeans where lobbying California to not execute that gang member "Tookie" Williams because he was such a "great man" - he personally executed an entire family of Koreans.

He was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. That shows how powerful the gangs are and professional their public relations people are.

My opinion of dealing with malicious people?
Shoot shovel and shut up.
If you need to deal some justice use a shotgun and some generic slugs. Pick up your casings and there are no easily identifiable ballistic markings.
I have never hated anyone in my life but I know that if need be, I can defend me and mine. You can't let the baddies get away clean if you can help it.
I'm not condoning violence but it has its place, just don't get caught doing the justice system's work for them.
The world is getting a little more dangerous every day, first step is avoid making yourself an easy target.
Second step is to have a bigger stick.

Here is another little story : I went to the police station some years ago because somebody stole my electric skateboard, this happend in front of pet's place(lucky for me there was a witness in a car outside waiting for his wife that was also in pet's place)when i arrived @ the police station, the police told me that the report i made to report this true the internet was not valid,..... After that the policemen behind his computer was nervous and turned his computer screen and told me : look you are a computer criminal ! After that he pushed me out of the police station HQ in the mathildelaan,..... I wrote a letter of complain to the police to also tel them that if they don't believe my story they can even check the camera recording from the camera @ the police station ! The answer i got back was that they don't know who served me that day,... I don't have problems with the police in eindhoven they usually,... do there work in a correct way but some rogue agents are a bit out of line, i wonder why,....

i have a general dis-taste for police as much as the next guy, but we all have to recognize that they are a necessary evil. I belive that all cops start out wanting to make the world a better place. look at this link. it is called the stanford prison experiment. basically they took a bunch of college aged ppl and separated them into "prison gaurds" and "criminals" they for the most part were all friedly with each other. but after time the prison gaurds really started abusing their power and the criminals started becoming criminally... make your own conclusion about cops...

I watched short film on the SPE... Very crazy.

Part of the problem is that most western nations also task the police with tax collection and revenue enhancement duties which is often given a much higher priority then protecting the common good.

When your local city, town, village is broke what do they do? They order the police to take it out of the hides of the citizens.
