About Downtime

Hey everyone

The site was down for a few days because the perl scripts were overloading the server. godaddy suspended the account. it was causing other users on the same shared hosting server to have problems. i had to switch to a new host, and i had to download all the data and reupload it again . restoring from previous backup would have meant losing some data, so i decided to take the extra time to redownload everything

attachments are still down. i need to reupload them , its about 2gb of data. but i decided its ok to ahve the site up its just you wolnt be able to see things that were previously uploaded by people.

i spent at least 18 hours working on all of this. i will continue to do everything i can to help the site, backup the data, take advice on new features, and monitor the site for spam/etc.

if you notice ANY problems with the site please let me know by either PM or this thread.

Note: i removed the recent posts thing on the bottom of the site b/c i think that might have been putting too much load on the server. its possible it will be back but for now im removing it.

I had the exact same thing happen to me with a forum I ran. They claimed it was the search script causing the overload so they shut down my forum, fortunately they did not shut down the rest of my website. Needless to say, I changed hosting companies that same day... ;D

Another thanks here. There are other sites out there but none like LPF.

When will all the attachment be put back on the forum???

still uploading attachments, its going to be a while prob over 12 hours

i have over 1.5gb to upload and my up speed is only like 50kb a sec

Awesome, I was waiting for you to put it back online.

I say you disable attachments. We have imageshack and other sites to upload picts and videos on.

I had to bug the folks I remembered from here on another forum because I thought the lawyers gotcha.
