Indeed! We are many members. Recall recently the server's PSU blew? You may know what it costs to replace a power supply, and though that sort of cost isn't a monthly issue, thank goodness, there are many costs associated with hosting, maintenance, the recent legal costs associated with establishing moderators, and of course Avery's time...

This month, many of us also donated to Haiti eathquake relief in some way, which may reduce some folks' available funds for donating to LPF. So, as just another member, I say thank you for that too!

If a few dozen of us who haven't yet donated to LPF will add a buck or 2...

Perhaps the place to ask/beg for Donations should be put on another
Thread...

The way I see it is that this Thread should only be for the Members
that DO donate...

Members that don't think about donating will obviously skip over a
Thread named Donating to LPF... IMO

May be true in some cases. Another thread may be passed over for the same reason.

This one does get bumped, and if that brings in a small percentage of newer members, of whom a small percentage donate, that's good.

I note the reception indicated in the first few pages of this thread however, which suggests it isn't just read by those who DO donate.

Perhaps the title could be changed to "Please Donate to LPF"?

Pardon me while I briefly digress...

If he's paying for a slice of a server that is owned by Ice Storm, it was their expense, since they were the ones maintaining the server - not Avery. Avery just pays for space and bandwidth on it. Unless he has a server colocated, they shouldn't have charged him for that... :undecided:

...and if he was, he should take issue. :undecided:

That's not a bad idea for the name of another Thread to drum up
and promote Donations... and that thread could be bumped to death
to keep it at the top of the Thread Posts.

Speaking for myself alone... I don't feel comfortable with the begging
for Donations on this thread... I'd rather not be associated with it on
this Thread... IDK... maybe I'm wrong....:undecided:
You wouldn't see me standing beside the Salvation Army Pot and Bell
Ringer after making a donation...

Maybe it's just me....:cool:

Yeah, didn't think about that. At the time, it seemed Avery had his sleeves rolled up (Ice Storm must have been providing up to the minute details). Anyway, you're right - that should be the case!

I don't have any spare cash at the moment, but I have "donated" a lot of time and server space (hosting explanatory images)

It's all I can do for the group at this time.

Just made my first donation.
I was planing on making one a long time ago. I joined back in July. I just kept coming up with excuse, and that I would do it the following month or week. The sad thing is that I always seem to have money when I want to buy something. I guess it's just easier to pay for something you want, and actually receive a physical item for your money. Even Though LPF provides me with a wealth of information and endless hours of reading pleasure:)

Well I just want to thank you Avery. For providing this great forum we call LPF. I know it costs both money and time to keep it up and running. Lets just hope I don't wait another 6 months before I pitch in:(
