I have a supplier that offers them to me for $3.50 a piece in orders of 50, and I might be able to get lower price for 100+. The problem is shipping, They got to ship to me which is pretty expensive, so high orders would save costs for everybody. Then I got shipping materials and actual shipping costs, so in the end I don't know how cheap I could actually ship them for. Maybe if I did a minimum order of like 5 or 10 or something I could keep everything cheap. Would anybody be interested if I decided to throw a GB?

I'd be in for 2 or 3 as long as they are significantly cheaper than the laser websites we all know of.
I don't think very many people would be happy with a minimum order of 5 or 10 though, but you could do something like $X each sled with $X shipping so you don't get undercut by small orders.

Sorry for being a little off topic, but styropyro, how many PHR sleds do you have left? I love my PHR build and I'm thinking of getting more sleds.

What's the general concensus as to what the mA input and mW output the diodes from these sleds can do? I'd probably in for a few.

The reason why I was wanting to do a minimum order was to save me the hassle of buying a whole lot more shipping envelopes, because for orders of like 1 or 2 one can always get their sleds much faster for a not bad price with great service from HTD or Modwerx. Even a minimum order of 5 would only be around $20. But making shipping costs different and giving quantity discounts could save me in the long run. We'll just have to see how things come together when (and if) this works out. I am just wanting to make sure I don't lose any money doing this.

Yeah I still have PHR-803T sleds left, here is my FS thread: http://laserpointerforums.com/f39/fs-new-phr-803t-sleds-low-5-85-a-51959.html

I'll see what my supplier says about the email I sent them, and if all sounds good I'll make a separate feeler thread tomorrow with a ballpark price.

420mA is considered "safe", and with a good lens you'll get around 300mW. Many people push theirs to 500mA with success. These diodes are actually rated for 200mW CW and 400mW Pulsed IIRC.

Okay, sounds good; 300mW with something like the 650-G-1 is what I was looking for anyhow. So yes, count me in for like... 4-5?

Just so you know, what you guys are putting yourself down for in # of sleds isn't official for the GB because I haven't posted a set price yet. I like knowing how much interest there is, but when I post the feeler I will need you guys to post in that thread again.

Sorry for double post, but the last time I ordered from my supplier, I ordered 50 PHR-803T sleds. I got charged $33 for DHL shipping, and $10 for PayPal Fees. At 50 sleds, those fees tack on $0.86 a sled! So at the minimum, not including my paypal fees or shipping cost to you, that comes to $4.36 a sled. This is why I need a large number of orders because it should save some considerable cost to order in higher bulk. Also this gives me a reason to have a minimum order to stimulate more sled sales.

So if we don't get more than 50 sled sales, the price is looking more like $4.50 + shipping. That is still an awesome price for a 300mW red laser diode. On top of that you also get a 100mW 780nm laser diode and a bunch of nifty optics. I'm hoping we can get in at least the 200 range for sleds. I know I'll be ordering quite a few for myself.

All sleds are packaged in antistatic bags in small white boxes.
