WL Dragon Case GB

So i was venturing over at WL looking at their dragon case. A decently cheap ten dollar cylinder case with plastic bumpers in it to protect my pointer. Wow i thought, ten bucks, cool little etched laser case that will be delightful for replacing my big bulking case that i can hardly fit in my pocket and thus usually ends up in my girlfriends purse (which of coarse means my toy is regulated, and my attention must be on my girlfriend before i get rewarded with playing with my greeny). So i added it to the cart, and proceeded to the checkout. Little did i even think about the $20 dollar shipping fee for getting the little bugger out of china. and $30 dollars is far to much to be shelling out for something i could probably go to my campuses metal shop and make myself in a few hours.

Sooo, long story short....

anyone interested in a group buy for the dragon cases over at wicked lasers?

Ive never organized a group buy of any kind, but i'd be more than happy to give it a go if i can get a few heads in on this whole ordeal. And if you guys (and possible girls... whoa wait, are there girls around here?) would feel more comfy taking this under one of your own wings, i'd be more than happy to follow along.

Well, since I already have contacts there from my Goggles purchase <shameless plug> I'll bet I can swing something, or at least bulk rate shipping perhaps - so if wanted, I can take it from here, and run with it - I can post my results in about a day (time differences between me and china SUCK !) and then I could post the terms and conditions - sound good ?

At first I thought "Why not just buy a whole bunch in bulk (25+) from their site, and just pay $12 per case to cover shipping, then I found out their site is like a negative GB, the more cases ordered, the more expensive it becomes".

I can get any quantity of Dragon cases for $15.49 each, shipped to your door. I think it would be best to figure out WHICH TYPE of dragon case would be wanted - they make so many different types now - so if interested, I can run with this - the offer is on the table. In order for that pricing to work, I would need to order 20 or more at a time. That price includes first class shipping, if you want priority, you would have to add $3.99 more to the price.

I'm not sure how many would buy one but it would be a little over $12 each with shipping. Then the person sending them out would probably have to pay around $5 to ship it out. $17 is still a lot cheaper than $30 though. These are just some random amounts I put in to see what each one would cost with shipping.

I wonder if a Leadlight will fit in any of those cases. I need a case for it.

I will finalize this GB once we have enough interested parties - or at least close to that amount. I will probably buy some extras to carry on my site, so I will take on some financial responsibilities if we don't hit a perfect 20 total. I won't collect any funds until we make sure this will work out for folks - so hold off on that payment button !

I hadnt thought of that. Its a good idea, except im looking for a plastic or rubber liner to keep my pointer from getting too rattled up, and the dragon cause i believe is lined with just such a thing.

Yeah, I have a dragon case. It's really cool

And yes, it's covered on the inside with soft felt. It's pretty good for laser protection.

the last time i had a WL dragon case, the padded interior came out of the tube near the cap but im willing to give it a second shot.
if this GB goes ahead, id be interested in 2 dragon cases.

Cool - looks like we are rolling then I have never had ANY issues with Dragon cases I have owned - and I have had quitea few of them, too - I have heard that sometimes the sealed end pops off - especially if you are using a laser taht wasn't designed to go in the tube - but I have never had issues with that. A DX "New-Wish" style pointer will NOT fit inside a Dragon case {Unless things have changed ?} so be cautious about what type of laser you pop in there !

I've got 7 of them & NEVER had any trouble with ANY of them (at least the executive/pulsar sized ones) phoenix77
