That's very generous, thanks! I am sure there are going to be more people that have this problem, so it'll be nice to know the exact dimensions needed.

No prob.

Edit: The one good thing about the host with the black inside is that you do not have to change the pill, it has a 17mm size for the contact board or driver but for the ones that you made heatsinks for it has a 20mm opening on the pill for driver or contact board which then you would have to purchase the brass one that fits a 17mm if you were going to put a driver, if you're just going to use it as a contact board then you can just clean off that board.

The depth is still the same for the heatsinks though

I am sorry to see there is problems with the heat sinks but I am relieved to hear it is the difference in hosts. Mike and I try to produce the highest quality we can. There is always a risk, as Mike said, in making heat sinks without the host. In this group buy it would have been difficult and more costly for everyone to send in their hosts.

I must say it is great to see everyone trying to come up with a fix or solution to the issue.

Thanks for everyone understanding the issues involved and have a great day.

You guys have made me some great stuff and I know there are many members that appreciate your machining skills. Everything for me got delivered safely and I would like to say  who ever didn't grab one of these smooth flows is going to regret it when they see them in builds! Great job on them.

As for the variations... I also received three different styles from my ebay order! If anyone ever asks why they need to send their host you need to give them a link to this thread! I even have a black one that is cut like the silver ones and the heatsink fits perfect.

Tomorrow I will try to post a video on how to do the fix using a drill and a dremmel or angle grinder. Keeping it rotating will keep the grinding even all the way around preventing lopsiding.

I am dead tired tonight so tomorrow I will post pics of these beauties.... As a bonus I also got my order from lazeerer of a whole bunch of drivers today too :) its going to be building time!

Here is the first one I put together its an m140 running at 2.0A. Haven't run it on the LPM yet but I am so happy with how these look.

I will make a tutorial in a little about fixing the heatsink.

Mine arrived today!! that was very quick shipping.
The quality of the craftsmanship on these is 10 out of 10.
Massive chunk of Al. polished to look like a mirror==set screw AND a hex Wrench for both HS,

As i have some extra EZ focus knobs was not going to get those- however when Mike sent me the total to send I went ahead and got his-- THAT was a good move IMO as they look so much better because they are the same size as the HS. Glad I sent a little extra for the pooppal fes--

These were very well packed too.

+3 for Mike and his dad.

For anyone interested, here's a quick drawing of what I found to work with all 3 hosts I have here..

C8_BLACK_HS.jpg

I did manage to scuff one up in the process.. not sure how or when it happened.. but it will be capped with one of the smooth focus knobs .. so it shouldn't be noticeable...

Thanks again :)

Well it seems the heatsinks seem to do a pretty good job here is a 60 seconds test and it looks pretty good. I should of done 2 minutes but I wasn't thinking. This isn't bad for an m140 at 2.0A and an aixiz 3-element :D

Ok, so I got the heat sink two days ago and it looks great. I love the mirror finish on the front,I didn't know it would have the mirror finish on the front so it was a pleasant surprise.

I don't have any of the flashlights for it. I was thinking that I could order two or three of them and see if I get the right type. Does it matter who I order it from. And should I use separate orders?
What do you guy's think?

I am sorry but if I knew where to get the right ones we wouldn't of ran into this issue. We got different styles from the same companies so you don't know what you are going to get. I wish I could help

Okay, I just got home and friend of mine (my neighbor) that purchased a flashlight with my order got the one that fits the heatsink and I took a video to show you what the differences are and he is traiding me so I can have this one :)

Thanks for this SixTee9; the thread was starting to worry me (I haven't gotten my HS yet so I didn't know if it will fit the host I have); but my C8's head is the unpainted-inside version, and I took a calliper to it: ID=40.0mm* so that should be good :)

* it's very important to keep shaming you Americans for sticking to the Imperial measurements system, until you get some sense :p

No prob.

Huh, I guess I should probably go ahead and order that brass pill.
Do you think there'll be enough maneuvering room inside that not-particularly-tall pill to fit a driver & safely cap it behind with the (cleaned) 20mm contact board?

You can probably do that, the 20 mm pill is the same depth as the 17 mm pill. If you have a driver laying around just measure that with a contact board and see how deep it goes to the depth of the pill you might be okay :)
