Mrcrouse, I recieved my C8 heatsink and tried it in 3 different C8 hosts and the part with the set screw will not go in, I didn't want to PM you about this just in case more people are having the same problem. I posted a video below, can you help?

Sorry about the issue, I let me dad know that you are having an issue and I'll see what he says. We had 3 hosts to use as samples, so the heatsinks should have fit all three hosts before they were shipped. We also added a bit of clearance to be sure that the heatsinks would fit. It is possible there is more variance in the hosts than what we had with just the 3 samples. This is why I generally prefer to fit each heatsink to its host to ensure a perfect fit. I'll let you know what he has to say when he responds. Do you by chance have calipers or micrometers? Can you get a measurement of the heatsink OD and the ID of the flashlight head?

Mine just arrived .. Seeing the same issue here ...

Mine has the same black retaining ring as the one shown in SixTee9's video ..
It seems there are multiple variations of this host floating around ..

It fits the outer diameter of the head perfectly .. however the diameter reduces a bit @ ~ 1/4 depth ..

I have to run out right now .. but can mic these out when I return ..

Okay. I did hear back from my dad. He did hand check each one on all 3 sample hosts before it went out. If there are different variations, then I was unaware of that, and that could very well be what is causing the issues. I'm interested to see how much the OD is oversized on the heatsink for your C8's.

Ok I got the measurements and the OD of the part with the setscrew is 1 5/8 in. And the ID of the host is 1 5/8 in. but 1/2in. in it tapers in to 1 1/2 in.

Edit: I can send you my host if you want, do you want me to send the heatsink also?

Ok well I wont get out of class until 9:20 tonight then wont get home till 10:00. Tracking say they have been delivered so I will check them out. i have ones from ebay too but I got them after I sent mike the aurabuy ones

Also if it is only an 1/8" difference for those of you with the tools I am sure you can do something like this to get a taper ;) It may not be as smooth and shiny but it will work.

**** When the thought of the GB first started this is the measurements I came up with for a heatsink based off of measuring my lights (I have the face extended thought the bezel but we went with recessed instead)... Is this what you guys measuring

This was just to give mike a ballpark size wise

OK ..
It is the 1.550" OD of the heat sink that is the issue.
The 1.555 ID of the host only extends to a depth of 0.15" on mine .. at which point it is reduced to 1.50".

The 1.50" diameter extends to .9875" from the edge of the host (without the retaining ring).

Looks like the 2nd step needs ~.050 ground off ..

I'm tempted to try and take it off of the inside of the host ... but I can't get a measurement of the thickness in that area ...

FYI. Mine were from the Ebay sale linked by OP .. Grabbed 3.
As far as rework is concerned .. I'm not terribly bothered. I should be able to remove the extra material here.

BTW they look great :)

Just noticed .. the largest OD (1st step) is too large to pass the threading of the retaining ring as well .. 1.66 vs. ~1.63.

have tried various combinations of 3 hosts and 3 sinks.

Looks like the manufacturer(s) really like making things difficult then. For those who require rework, you can send it back to me along with the host, and we'll rework it. If you are able to do it yourself with just your drill and some sandpaper, I would greatly appreciate that. Sorry for the issues.

I am going to go out and say this before anyone says something...

If you do need to send it back please be understanding and cover all shipping costs..... It is not mike's fought if there is variation. I assumed that all the hosts would be similar but I was wrong. No one was expecting different dimensions from the same seller. He was trying to help us out.... so I dont want to hear anyone give him crap

I don't think this will be an issue I just had to put that out there

sink measurements as follows ..

And yeah .. I'd like to think that everyone will be understanding .. this is the fault of the suppliers of the hosts (or us as buyers for not doing our due diligence when purchasing the hosts) .. not Mrcrouse.

It's a simple fix as you pointed out, and shipping back would probably cost about 20X what fixing at home will.

Mrcrouse about a month ago I bought a C11 host from you without focus adapter but you added a focus adapter wrapped up anyway, thank you that was very nice of you I'm can use it on this C8. Here's what I'm going to do for you I am going to send you a host that has the black insides that is different for you to keep. You can make the right heatsink for this host for other people and all you would have to do is ask them if it has the silver inside or the black inside. Thank you again
