Yes, if it is important enough, I can't change the title, but coldshadow can. -Glenn

changing your own thread title is easy. Here's what you do:

1. Go to the section where your thread is, in this case, you'd go to the "Group Buys" section of the forum.

2. Find your thread, but don't click on the link to go in. Instead, double click just to the right of the title (or just to the right of the page numbers if there are multiple pages), and it will bring up a box to let you change the title.

I hope to get an order together in late December or early January. We should have about 12 participants to make an order. Best Wishes! -Glenn

Hey Moptsp, the only one we can not discount is the 150mW GLP. and if someone wants that unit, it's full price is still a really good deal IMHO and I can order it at reg. cost along with a GB, the benefit of course would be that I can take PP and Optotronics doesn't. Best Wishes! -Glenn

I ***may*** would be interested in the 120mw pen, ***may***. First, how much would the discounted price be?

And a few questions for anyone that has a pen from opto:
1. These units, they look the same as those on ebay. Though what makes them so different? Because he tests them?
2. Also relating to it being like (or is) an ebay laser, most say "they are of high quality", does this mean that the ebay lasers have always been a good unit, it's just the output is always under spec? I have heard others on this forum say the pens like this on DX that are rated @ >50mw are under spec and that this pen isn't really capable of holding greater than this output (50mw). I guess this isn't true though.
3. Will I be able to easily light matches with it (with no aids)?
4. Are they pretty stable?
5. Hows the battery life?
6. Would this be a "worth the money" upgrade from my CNI Pen @ > 95mw or should I just save a few $ more for a 150mw?
7. Lastly, the rated power, is it average?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm just a noob with opto's stuff, still hear it's good!

Thanks,
Moptsp

As far as an upgrade from your CNI pen, I would say No. Green needs to be at least double to be brighter. So you would be looking at a RPL-300 or so.

I am waiting for Jack to give warranty low down, and Moptsp, brighter not noticeably, burn better?, yes! and even more so the 150 mW, and many lasers have the same body, but it's not as good as a Opto. 150 mW unless it's been made for the Opto's specs and Jack also weeds out the ones with too much divergence as well.

Yeah, I'm talking about burning power, not brightness. Hmm... I may just save for the 150mw. I only need about ~$50 more, probably wont have it by the time this GB ends, though maybe in a future one. If not, well I'm not saving anything so it's not a big deal lol. It's just that I can't use PP.

Thanks for the responses, guys!

Replied. This is when I thought my laser was performing just at spec (95mw), so I was thinking about 120mw. Though that still isn't much, and thus why I decided not to get it.

Now that I know my laser is performing at ~135mw (read my post in the CNI GB 7 if you haven't), I don't think I will bother with the 150 model from opto either. Maybe if I was lucky to get one near 175mw. But I would still rather have one at >=200mw. So that limits me to a RPL or a PGL. That is, unless I want something from a cheap Chinese retailer without an IR filter and all. Though, I don't.

Looks like I will need to save for quite a while, and by it without my mom knowing (she hates me spending money on lasers lol)...

Thanks,
Moptsp

P.S.
As far as not wanting one without an IR filter, please no one get on me about this with the "it's no worse than green light" lecture. Even if so, this isn't really why. I just think it shows the craftsmen ship in the laser. If it's classified as a green laser, it should only emit green, not a mix of green and IR. <- That's just my views.

Folks I totally believe that Optotronics products are second to none, and I also am aware of lower cost, (and quality competitors), so I am amazed that we are getting this GB going so slowly! So, upside, c/b you have a bit more time to get an order together! -Glenn

What's holding the GB up? I would have thought my self it would have been done by now, (in order stage at least.)
