Glad we are all into figuring this out.
From my testing the 0-9 is solely based on dB level.
If needed, I can test with stupid volume levels. I probably have more home theatre and stereo equipment than 25 families combined.

Re: SHIPPING!!& DELIVERY ASAP UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYM

After thinking about how much noise the internal fan makes, I remembered how one of the many laptops I've torn apart solved this problem.
They had a rubber tube fitted over the mic on the PCB and ported it to the hole on the outside bezel. No rubber tubes here, so I used what I had and it seems to have increased the sensitivity. So much so that I've learned the projector really only pauses the auto show to the beat of the music. There's a blue LED on the front of the LK3D that flashes with the sound it detects also. Just found that as I was writing this.
Anyways, just thought I'd share that.

Clever thinking!

My RGB5 is set for dispatch in my city today so today will be an anxious first day back at work for the year.

*excited*

Still trying to decide between QS and LSX

I tried adding an extension like this to the LK-PD2 using an replacement iPod rubber earpiece. It stretches perfectly around the mic and creates a conical tube that touches the case around the mic hole. It increased the response by 10-20 dB , so now it responds between 80-90 dBC. Better, but it still requires my headphone pressed to the mic hole. I also wiggled the many sound board connecters but that isn't the issue. I did notice some resistors and such on that board – hope they are the correct value.

Funny about that extension. I had originally thought about adding some kind of funnel to it but after some quick tests found that it still didn't work well (not to mention looked funny).
You could use a rubber grommet.
The point is that you absolutely shouldn't have to do this. I have a cheap $30 mini laser light show with red and green lasers and it has a sound activated function and is very sensitive. Going to pop it open and take a look.

Ok been fiddling with settings. On setting 7 I can snap my fingers from about a foot, speak at normal volume and I'm getting response. I'm wondering if Wendy may have something with the values being mistaken somewhere. I'm nt sure how old my 3D is but it was obviously manufactured in a differ batch.

Mine is not very responsive. I snap my fingers and clap my hand right by the mic and nothing happens. I think you lucked out Tmack! I wish I could make mine better. Not sure we're going to hear from LK about this from what others have said. But I'm still hoping.

Looking into something like
Amazon.com: VideoSecu High Sensitive Audio Pickup Device External Amplified Tiny Spy Microphone for CCTV Security Camera with Bonus Warning Decal WD6: Electronics
or
Amazon.com: VideoSecu High Sensitive Preamp Mini Audio Pickup Tiny Spy Microphone with Power Bypass for Security Audio Sound Voice Monitoring Recording and bonus Warning Decal WD4: Electronics

I think they need a DC power supply of 6-15 volts or so.... have to look into it more. They sound like they are extremely sensitive (not to mention inexpensive).
Of course we are also talking now about needing a power supply (battery or brick) or figuring out where to tap off of in the unit not to mention we shouldn't have to do this at all.

Re: SHIPPING!!& DELIVERY ASAP UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYM

I tried to get answers before and was very disappointed in the lack of response months ago. I would certainly like mine to work properly but there's 0 possibility of me sending it back.
It would be great if we could get some kind of response that made sense. If my $30 unit can have great sound response there's no excuse why this unit can't. Maybe Len will have some luck explaining the situation to her.
As I had written many times back when I got my PD2 I was very happy with what the unit can do but not at all concerning this issue. I just kept hearing about you might have to mod it to work and no one else used that function and it was never seriously addressed so I felt I needed to drop the issue for harmonies sake.
Now it happens in this batch that many of you care about it so the issue is back again.
The honest truth is that I felt the unit was VERY worth the $ for what we got and if all these other people were satisfied at the time (GB3) then so be it. IF anything happens with a fix for this I would want to be first in line to get it but I'm not holding my breath either.
Sorry if this comes off a bit bitter but I've already been through this. It just opens an "old" wound for me. I didn't like having to mod my unit to try to make a function work that should have to begin with.
The sound response issue is meaningful as they highlight this feature so of course you would expect it to work.
This isn't Len's fault and I'll have words with anyone who thinks otherwise. My friend has been most gracious through all of these GB's and works hard to try and satisfy everyone. I wouldn't want to run a GB that's for sure! Thanks for all the hard work as always Len;)

Well that came off a bit harsh last night but I'll let it stand.
Looking on amazon there's a ton of options for a mic and you can get them with the power supply and extensions etc...

I ordered one of each of those mics so I can report on them by the end of the week:)
I feel like I scared people away by my comments so I apologize if it came off that way;)

Playing with DMX now. While the 3D does have 5 groups of images, they are not the same as the manual. The most I can get it a $. They images the manual shows are much more elaborate. I get basic shapes. No "pumpkin" as I was lead to believe. Just simple shapes. I've gone through all 5 groups many times and I'm positive I'm not missing anything.

Hey Tmack,
Just keeping making super fine adjustments to the sliders. It may be a combination of settings to find the pumpkin, or whatever. If it is listed in the manual, it should be accessible. Also give yourself some time to learn the finer points of your controller

Re: SHIPPING!!& DELIVERY ASAP UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYM

Good to know. I'm also finding discrepancies in the 3D manual. Like there is no Auto show/Sound activated show FAST or SLOW speeds. Just 'Aut' (Autoshow), or 'Sou', Sound Activated show. And there are 21 patterns accessible with the remote control, not 48 as noted in the manual.
Unless I'm doing something wrong which is entirely possible.
So would you suggest investing in a USB DMX controller for the LK-3D, or wait till I save the $ for a nice 1 or 2W RGB projector?

Re: SHIPPING!!& DELIVERY ASAP UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYM

No I only get 21 channels too. I think they count reversing them.

And I'll be very surprised if I missed any images. I cycle through all five groups and every pattern as slow as possible. But it is new an I'm not familiar with everything yet. I can definitely say that where the elaborate patterns should be, I get an entirely different image then the manual. Even many of the simple images are out of place.

Re: SHIPPING!!& DELIVERY ASAP UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYM

link to audio line-in mod ? i will be seriously disappointed in the mic for auto mode is crap as im supposed to be using this unit at a warehouse party in a few weeks.

Linna emailed me saying it has been shipped today, and will provide a tracking number tomorrow ..... wonder why she couldn't provide one when she shipped it ?

@ reaperZ a RAVE?? you are worried that the mic will not pick up the sound at a RAVE?? ha ha --really you new zeallanders must have diff raves than we do here===lol

dont worry your PJ will be a big 'likel' at the party and nobody at all will notice the problem we are working very hard to fix.asap

read this plz

Hello all

just a quick update

I dont like to hold back on info
ATM we are working with Linna and LK to correct a problem we have with the upgraded LKRGB5 full color PJs.

The green module in these is not the right one-- part of the problem is the fact that these are the first upgraded PJs in thsi modle--and there in none like these that Linna can see- we were shipped all that was made- as it was a custom order and she may also not have QS in hand and that is the best way to see that only the R and B are analog- the green does not modulate--

mistakes happen this was an 'accident' not an 'on purpose' she only has 12 hours to test all the PJs and maybe even less on the RGB5 as we were in a hurry to get them and w/o soft ware its not so clearly evident that there is a problem.

How this turns out, however is important to all of us and makes a difference in future GBs with LK and the forums.

ALSO getting upset by this does not make anything better-we have solid reasons to trust Linna and none to not do so.

I can fully appreciate the postiton she in in- we are at one end and her techs the other and Linna is in the middle- it is NOT rare at all for the buyer to be mistaken so she must verify the problem completely-- this is going to be an very expensive mistake to fix for LK and I pray they will not put any blame on Linna- in china when some workers make mistakes it either paid back by the worker or they lose their jobs - Linna had to pay recently for a error and Winni at Goldenstar had to cover a loss of $6K from her pocket. and sadly Winni is going to soon have a baby-- 6K is a lot of YEN!!

Good jobs in china are cherished--

the ttl green module aside i can say right now that the LKRGB5 is a super bargain-- the same basic projector from a USA seller would be more than 3 times the cost with very little differences so I see these issues as a trade off--had we paid 3-4000$ we should expect more but we paid much less.

So if one keeps things in proper perspective there is less at be unhappy about.

The pics and posts in this thread have made me very happy.

The LK 3D is NOT a beam projector at all yet T-mack has shown us some pretty cool pics all things considered. any mambers of LPF are welcome to post here-- ask ANY question you may have and anyone who wants to put a review in this thread is very welcome. same with more pics and vids especially--

y'all try to stay warm

...tonite will be the coldest it has been in minnisota since 1912 with a wind chill making it feel like minus 51 degrees!!! so I wont complain about it being 39 degrees right now in most of my house-- no $$ for propane this year spent it on lasers!!

EEK Len! Propane before lasers:) That is unless you want it that cold so you don't have to make your own fog;)

I sure hope things with Linna are going to be OK. I've seen enough documentaries on the subject to know that even if half of what they say about conditions is true over there with jobs it's pretty awful. Hang in there Linna!

Keep messing with the DMX guys. I only have a simple Elataion SDC-6 (6 channel simple DMX controller) and it seems to be only capable of changing the special affects wheel. I just bought it to see what it would do knowing full well that it wouldn't do much anyways.

Will be nice to get those Mics so I can let everyone know how they work out.
-4F here

Bruce, as far as you can tell every function works with the 70 right?
