Ok i'm leaving the list so I can keep track of who i've shipped too and so people can check, though most of you will get notified when I update paypal when I ship. I'll try to at least get some ready to go tomorrow night but i'm not going to be in the office much the next two days so the bulk of them probably won't ship until the weekend.

Nevertheless, today, I got a box full of boxes from China. heh
I have a bit of a conundrum though. I received two different (actually 3, but only one of the last one and it was pretty mangled) types of sleds. Externally they're all identical, though I found an optical difference between them which i'll get in to in a minute. To go out to people, I have 13 that have board stencils reading
PP2
SF-BW512L
and 14 that are stenciled
PCMK-M1X
I think to be as fair and random as possible, i'll dump them all in a big box and pick them out at random to send out.
Here's pics, and the one single physical difference i've found.
First the SF-BW512L
And here's the inside. I circled where the difference is. The ones (well, the one i'm keeping that I took apart anyway) labeled SF-BW512L have this optic missing. The ones labeled PCMK-M1X (again, at least on the one i'm keeping that I took the back off of. I'm not taking apart anyone elses) had this optic.
Ok now the PCMK-M1X sled
And notice this one has that optic.
And lastly for the single differently marked sled I got.
This one was stenciled
PCMK-M1X
SF-BW512P
PP2-1G
Notice it says 512P, not 512L. It also shares the PCMK-M1X stencil with the the rest, though on the other sleds they had no other stenciling at all on the board.
This one also had no stickers on the bottom, and.. it had obviously been on the losing end of a battle with someone with bad soldering skills before. The few ribbon cables that were soldered were done horribly, with big solder blobs and nearby SMD parts missing heh. most were just loose. The 660nm diode was completely unsoldered as well.
Internally it was the same as the PCMK-M1X so I didn't get a pic of it's guts. It had that same optic in place.
Needless to say.. I tested the 405nm diode on this one to make sure it wasn't toast. Luckily got pretty violet light when I put 200mA on it with it still in the sled..
So 29 were new, one wasn't but still had a good 405nm diode. I haven't tested the 660nm out of this sled yet though.
After work I extracted it and put it in my labby CPU heatsink and ran some numbers using aixiz 445 glass.
I know these numbers are obviously lower than Morgan's, but this is sort of a difficult comparison to make, since he was testing with a 405-g-1 lens and I only have aixiz 405/445 lenses handy, and the 405-g-1 is known to give a significant improvement over the aixiz lenses.
Though just comparing the current to the Vf it's obvious though that this particular diode is of a lower efficiency than the one he tested, however this being the one off sled with a different part number, i'm not really sure what that means. I'll try to test the diodes out of the SF-BW512L and PCMK-M1X sleds i'm keeping tomorrow night hopefully and see how they look efficiency wise.
One good piece of data though.. I ran this particular diode for well over 45 minutes at 575mA and average power output only dropped 2mW (603mW down to 601mW) so it appears that 575mA is certainly within the safe current range for long life. I'll have to test this again several times though.. since a 2mW drop isn't much. I'd have to rule out diode heating and external influences (AC coming on, etc) to make sure that wasn't just noise.
One last thing.. The place I got these from also had 405/445 lenses cheap, and since I was ordering stuff anyway I added 5 to the order.
They are 100% identical to the aixiz 445 lenses I have, and appear to have the correct AR coatings as well.
The one I tested had a very slight power drop compared to the aixiz lens, but it was less than 1% difference. I haven't checked the other 4 yet though to see if it's just due to variations in the coatings or not though.
Since my order with these people went smoothly and I have a line of communication worked out, i'll probably get a list of laser stuff they have and figure up pricing, and start doing a 'monthly buy' type deal with them if there's enough interest in what they have to offer.
**UPDATE**
The 'one off' diode is dead. I was running it at 200mA while I was testing every lens I own. I left it running when I had to go to the restroom and when I came back, it had LED'd itself in the roughly minute I was gone. My brother was in the office but he denied touching it, and as touchy as the current knob is on my psu, I doubt he could have got it back to reading 200mA like it was in the time alloted. I guess it was just a dud.. that sled had been soldered on after all, and had a lower than expected output.
On the good side of things. I extracted and tested the diode out of the PCMK-M1X sled...
This diode appears to be about 7.6% more efficient than the last one.
I also learned something else unexpected when testing all my lenses... the best 3 element lens I have.. is only 3.2% better than aixiz acrylic... And it's one of the ones I got from this same chinese merchant. The actual aixiz 405/445 lenses I have fared much worse. The best came in 2% less than the power I got with aixiz acrylic.. the 'wrong coating' 445's had 18%-23% less output than acrylic. Heck, even the aixiz glass lenses coated for red fared better than the 'wrong coating' 445's, coming in at 11% less than the acrylic.
On the shipping note. Everything's packed, and I just have to put the address labels on and drop them by the post office in the morning.
