Thanx all for you patience;

BTW: just like FC said... if you don't get it... you're too young... and you MUST leave your computer NOW, go to your local movie rental store and grab Real Genius... nay, go buy it :p

Hey DDL,

I missed this GB, but need a meter BAD! So please see my interest for another GB. I will take one.

On the Blu-Rays, I haven't seen mine? I am guessing due to the Holidays. If you see you have sent my two orders a while ago, drop me a note to let me know as they aren't here yet, but not too worried yet.

Thanks, Joe

Joe, you're on the list for the next LPM-1 GB :)

As about the BR, I see that you're in on the 4th GB... and just as badly as everyone is waiting for this next batch, I myself am waiting for the parts on hot coals!! :-[

I hope to get them here and out to everyone very soon.

Thanks DDL for letting me know and putting me on the list for the LPM-1. I am ready whenever it happens.  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I sent you a PM about the BR's, but you answered my question here, so you can disregard that now.
Same deal as I stated before, I ordered two seperate orders of two in each, so if you want to combine them and pocket the difference from the shipping (or apply it to the LPF as a Donation) and send them together, that is fine w/ me. Hope your Holidays went fine and Happy New year!

Regards, Joe

The meters have started arriving! Mine showed up this afternoon, and it certainly won't take long for me to put it to use. :D

Thank you! I've had a chance to give it a quick test run, and it looks great. Hopefully, there will soon be a software upgrade for a few more wavelengths, such as 405nm as well. ;)

BTW, thanks again for managing another excellent group buy.

Well for now we can just put it on the 473nm setting to measure our blu-rays. Take the reading and multiply it by 1.75.

The only thing I am not happy about is the current this meter draws when it is "turned off". I put a brand new alkaline battery in it around Thanksgiving. I have used it for a total of maybe 1 hour at most since then. I went to measure the output of one of my lasers last night and after a couple of minutes the low battery warning came on. It comes on when the battery has reached 6 volts.

According to my DMM, and if someone else wants to measure and correct me please do so, the LPM draws .00016ma's when it is turned off. This doesn't seem like much but it does add up after a couple of months. I realize this is normal for this type of circuit, and the instructions do say something about removing the battery if the meter is not going to be used for an extended period of time. But the addition of a true on/off switch would have solved this. When the LPM is turned on it draws around 105ma's.

For the price I paid I am still very satisfied and happy with the meter. However I plan on doing something to correct this by either adding an on/off switch or using a nimh battery pack and attaching it to the back of the meter. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions please chime in. :)

Thank you for that Gazoo... I verify that that is around what my meter reads while off as well. And around that for operation too. As about a mod for something to get around this costly battery solution, I am using a bench supply to power the meter, especially for long periods of time. The other option is to use a wall-mounted power supply. Although, your mention of a battery pack is something that I've been meaning to incorporate at one point or another. With the help of another 9V battery plug and 3 CR123A batteries this thing could be run for a much longer period of time... Although, as it is, a 1-hour runtime on this is about the MAX you could ever get! :(

Thanks for confirming Daedal. I do have DC adapters and all, it's just that I like to have everything run off batteries when possible. I think also a 7.4 volt li-poly might be a good idea, or a couple of li-ion batteries. Using three CR123's is a good idea too but they would take up a lot of space. Irregardless, with any kind of external battery we really would still need a switch or would need to unplug the batteries when not in use.
