Re: FOR SALE-405nm Goggle $35 (3 left)(Laser-Wave)

in these pics the transparency looks *much* better than on the first ones! it looks yellow/orangeish too, what would be expected for blue-filters. could somehow the graph have been mixed up? the pics really dont indicate a <5% 500nm transmission..
the powermeter speaks clearly, great! 0mw! :)
still, it could be a few mw, since its a thermal powermeter. and these few mw could look brighter than they are, with the funny non-linear brightness-perception of the eye.
will mine arrive already? :)

and for the smoke smell im ot really sure how that would happen since i dont smoke and no i live with or hang out with or work with does.

can you explain the smoke smell please.

one thing i have noticed is everything i buy from china has a distinct smell but it is nothing like smoke. at least no in my opinion

Please pardon me for my anger. The goggles definitely had a strong odor of cigar smoke when they first arrived (it's dissipated some by now), but since it had nothing to do with you, I'm sorry about that. It was most likely a postal worker out for a break delivering my package, because the scent is unmistakeable.

Also, I am glad to hear/see that the goggles are indeed safe. The powermeter says much more than any claims.

Thank you for all of your time and effort into this excellent GB!

Yes. Josh did an excellent job with this GB. Perhaps more will be available. If so, don't take your eyesight for granted. Get some goggles!

Re: FOR SALE-405nm Goggle $35 (3 left)(Laser-Wave)

I received my goggles on Wed, but was not able to use them until today.  Mine also smelled mildly of cigar/cigarette smoke.  There are a couple small dots on my right lens that appear to have been air bubbles in the coating as it dried, and therefor did not adhere to the lens.  These are very tiny spots, >0.5mm.  However, overall i am very pleased with the performance of these goggles.  I know its been stated before, but you truly do not see the real fluorescence of an object until you see it through these goggles!

I know the flaws i mentioned here, is something that is totally out of your control Josh.  I hope that you do contact the supplier with all of our concerns and findings.

Thank you Josh for a GB that was done very well, with constant updates on progress.  +1 Rep for your professionalism.

Ted

EDIT: i tried to +rep you and got this message: You cannot change Reputation of this user at this time.

I will try again in a bit.

Re: FOR SALE-405nm Goggle $35 (3 left)(Laser-Wave)

thanks everyone! and yes i will be updating bridge with the findings so he can be sure to make sure it for one doesnt happen again and for two to double check the goggles before they leave.

and i still have 2 available if anyone wants some :)

regarding the cigar smoke that really baffles me! especially since two different people have smelt it. maybe the person that go a hold of all the packages at the post office in houston just got done with a smoke break and then touched all my shipments :-? i dono.
but i hate the smell of smoke too and if i bought something and it smelt of smoke i would be kinda upset so no hard feelings sorry they got to you smelling nothing like they should!

and everyone thanks again for making this happen is was a lot of work but i think it was completely worth it!

Re: FOR SALE-405nm Goggle $35 (3 left)(Laser-Wave)

I got mine yesterday ;D

Pretty quick, pretty expensive shipping too  but yeah

I tried them on and I didn't have any problems with not seeing stuff. I didn't try it with a green laser but I tried it with my 803t and the dot was visible nicely, but not as blinding/bright as it is without goggles, exactly as I would expect it. The goggles do reflect the light rather than absorb it or something but after about a meter the dot is already diverged into a big 20cm blob so there is no 'randomly throwing laserbeams through the room'.

I'm very happy with the goggles, especially for this price. The case and cloth were a nice extra. Too bad it had to go all the way from china to the US and back again but that's just how things work :p Thank you very much for a great GB, i'm pretty sure it saved my eyesight for one :) Oh, and sorry for all the inconvenience with the postal code :-/

Re: FOR SALE-405nm Goggle $35 (3 left)(Laser-Wave)

I am greatly enjoying my new goggles! Thank you very much for all of your effort and time. It was a pleasure doing business with you, and I would definitely buy from you again!

I figured out a way to remove the cigar smoke odor. Take a bottle of Odor-Cide (I think you can pick it up at the pet store, but if not, another odor remover should work), and spray it on a paper towel. Carefully wipe down the frame, but do not touch the lenses. Reapply frequently until you have covered the entire surface. Let them dry, and they will be free of scent.

The right lens has some pretty major fluctuations.

alrighty i got your goggles yesterday and checked them out. there is for sure a mess up in the coating on the right lens. i did however put it to the test on my meter and it still doesnt allow my meter to register any power when shining the laser through it.

so now i will offer these goggles at a discount of 30 dollars to anyone that wants them and i will be shipping out your new checked and perfect goggles today.

sorry for the delay and im sure you will be happy with your new goggles!

also regarding the ones with the defect, its very weird that it causes the dot to be a completely different color when looking throught the miss coated part. almost like a greenish yellow

Re: FOR SALE-405nm Goggle $35 (3 left)(Laser-Wave)

Hey Guys....
just a heads up..... about the Goggle Tests using the LaserBee I LPM

The Zero (0 mW) reading is not necessarily Zero mW...

The reading could be as high as 4.5 mW...

The LaserBee I  starts displaying stable Laser power at 5mW... any power reading
lower than 5mW will show Zero mW.... ;)

I'll do a Goggle Test using our Newport 1825-C LPM on these goggles as soon as I receive them
and post it here.

Re: FOR SALE-405nm Goggle $35 (3 left)(Laser-Wave)

hey everybody, make sure you check that the lenses in your goggles are firmly inserted! I was wearing mine today checking my blu-ray burner doing a test on electrical tape, and one of the lenses came out, fell on the cement floor, and shattered in to a billion pieces...  :'(

Other than that, though, every other one of my six pairs is A-OK.

But <5mW isn't too bad for your eyes.

Re: FOR SALE-405nm Goggle $35 (3 left)(Laser-Wave)

Hey guys.... received my goggles today...

Using a stable 405nm Laser Diode at 60mw on my Newport 1825-C LPM....
I tested the goggles from the outside in... at 5 places on each lens N,S,E,W and
center and got the same readings at every location....

2mW.

That's about 96-97% beam power reduction....

I feel a lot safer with these on... ;)
Thanks Josh....

Re: FOR SALE-405nm Goggle $35 (3 left)(Laser-Wave)

i got my three googles, some days ago actually. like everyone said, they are great! you still see a tiny bit of 405nm, but not more than an idea of violet. its enough for focusing, so this is *the* choice for people burning with their violet lasers! the lenses are made of glass too, nice!
one warning: one of my googles had one lens off when it arrived. i could insert it easily, but as generalspecific said, make sure they are securely installed!
they are not the first choice for watching fluorescence. but for safety and burning, theres nothing better that these that i know of. actually there wont be many laser-protection-googles out there at all for that price! ;-)

it took a bit from the beginning to come here, but i'm definitely happy with the result.
thank you a lot, josh, for all the effort, thinking, time and sweat you spent on these! pat yourself on your shoulder, you saved some eyesight with these! :)
