I honestly don't care anymore. I've been slandered, beaten and done the best I humanly can at and it's just plain not up to anyones standards. Hence the reason i'm leaving the forum. Not that anyone gives a rats A$$. I mean hell, I could have just up and freakin dissapeared but I am MAKING THE EFFORT to get this finished. I've got shit going on in my life that is my priority and it saddens me to have to fall short of everyones expectations. Everyone can expect a refund.

Those that still WANT this inferior product can pm me with instructions on where to send it. I'm done.

Dont be so dramatic kenom. You forget how so many members of the forum pulled together and helped you out almost 2 years ago. You should sympathize for your customers putting out money abot a year ago and being this patient.

Ps, I dont care if my unit is anodized. I would actually prefer a bare one so I can chrome it, do you still have my address.

Chip, I DO appreciate it. More than anyone can know. It's impossible to share the bullshit I've got through since december to get my kids back and I've tried my best to get this done while still jumping through the hundreds of hoops they want me to do in order to get my kids back. This has got to be the lowest point in my life and I'm constantly reminded of how short I come from everyone's expectations. Those that have helped me know the depths of my appreciation. I still am trying to follow through on this, and I really am not purposefully trying to let folks down. I just can't do it and the bs required to get my kids simultaneously. I'm human and I'm failing. If my kids weren't so important to me, I'd give up on them too. They NEED me.

rpalto, I knew you'd still take yers. I've got it boxed and it's going to be among the first to go out on the 14th.

Kenom,

Family life comes first, all we are after are some laser hosts, but your kids are a whole lot more important than that, so thanks for sticking it out and continuing to work through this your rough times.

The nature of the forum has changed significantly in the last two years, Ken
The ratio of DIY'ers and "customers" has shifted WAY over to the customer side
A significant number of them view the forum as a "retail" like environment.

In the past, we were more of a group of like minded "tinkerers." We thought nothing of giving another member our money and waiting patiently while one finished designing and fabricating something new.

Now most of the members think that if they give you their money, you should just walk back into your stock room and deliver their product immediately.

They also have a more entitled attitude. They grew up with parents that taught them that if they stand in the aisle and complain loudly that they will be serviced.

Add on top of all that the fact that now, there are machinists in the forum now that truly do deliver custom hosts virtually on demand and you have a very different environment than you and I are experienced with

There are still many of us "old timers" around.

Finish this GB and relax for awhile. Take care of Ken and the family. Get life back under control. Then come back and be a hobbyist again. You have learned the hard way that this forum is no place to try to make a living in ;)

Peace,

I still want mine too.

Looking forward to it. I'm a glass-half-full kind of guy. If the GB was all done already, I'd have finished with the build, and I'd already be bored with my 445nm and it would be sitting in a drawer.

I hear what you are saying Dave and mostly agree to a point..
The Forum has changed into a more business like environment
compared to 2-3 years ago...

I'm not part of this GB but I feel I'm part of this Laser Community
so I'll put in my $0.02

The members that sent Kenom their hard earned money have
not stood in the aisle and complained loudly until just recently.

They have not expected Kenom to just walk back into his stock
room and deliver their product immediately. They have patiently
waited until recently.

They have been more than patient with this GB for over a year
and when they receive what was promised it seems some of
them are disappointed....

Kenoms problems with this GB are not the fault of the members
that supported this GB by sending the $$$ that Kenom asked...

I know I'm on Kenom's Ignore list... but I would like to offer
up this bit advise that has served me well over the years...

Never bite off more than you can chew and swallow no matter
how tasty it looks....

I truly hope you can get this monkey (GB) off your back soon...

Agreed.

I used the extreme example to help Ken understand something and to help refocus the members' attitude

Ken is a great guy and a creative inventor.
Unfortunately, he is also a poor businessman and has some personal problems that prevent him becoming a better businessman

One CANNOT live off of the payment for a product not yet delivered

If one does, then if there is a problem, there is nothing left to fall back on or pay for the refunds and/or customer service
We are seeing the same problem with bhwollen right now. :(

I believe, that is what happened here. Ken's life got out of control in the middle of this GB.
Unfortunately, he has already "lived off of' the money from the GB.
He is dealing with it with what little discretionary funds he has available from each paycheck he earns

The old saying that "You can't get blood out of a turnip" applies.
No matter how much the members yell, scream, cajole, threaten, etc. there is no money available to just refund disgruntled customers.
No level of wailing, chest thumping, or gnashing of teeth will alter that fact

Ken is a good guy who has lost control of life.
I have no doubt that he will EVENTUALLY take care of all of his customers.
He has displayed that level of character.

I am NOT making excuses for Ken's lack of professionalism with this GB.
He was wrong and handled this poorly.
I am just pointing out that increasing the level of tension and stress in his life WILL NOT make anything happen any sooner

I was also trying to help Ken understand the shift in attitude in the forum.
Some members have adapted to the shift.
We have lost some others.
Others have gone "underground" and basically ONLY do limited business here anymore.
As another old saying goes, "Adapt or die!"

Peace,
dave

Nicely done. What was your 10,000th post?

If all the inexperienced sellers on the Forum would use that
as a hard fast rule and stick by it the funds for refund will
always be there in case a transaction falls through..

I agree that Kenom will try to make things right but it will
take some time as I've experienced in the past. But he has
always come through...

As to the members that yell, scream, cajole, threaten, etc....
I think it has just come to a head and they (the members)
are venting after such a long wait with nary a result..

Look this Gb took a lot of effort from everybody, especially us customers. I guess most of us are past the point of anger or frustration.
I find it inexcusable that kenom has made so many excuses or ran into so many hangups along the way. He has made way to many mistakes with this GB.

However I do honestly believe he has had it really bad.
Not having a home or place to stay several times during the GB. Trouble with money, trouble with the law, trouble with x wife or girl friend, not having a job. All these can really mess up someones life including handling a GB.

On a side note, conserning recent issues on the krytons.

1. the finish quality of the anodizing
We all knew once kenom said he would be doing the anodizing, and the first samples appeared, "not looking so hot'' .
We all knew that they would never look professional. This is when you should have decided not to have it anodized. True many did decide ''no I'll pass''. So for the ones that decided to let kenome go a head with the anodizing cant really complain that they don't like the way it looks. Not much you can do about it now.
It would be a mistake to ask for him to fix it as that may take along time. Cant ask for money back because while he may pay you, it will just take too long.

2. the switch
As far as the switch not handling 1+Amps. You have to remember the original kryton used this exact same switch. During the first batch and maybe even the second batch we only had our red and blu-405 diodes the PHR maybe the 6x.
Even with this current GB. This was conceived one year before he even started collecting money, that was 2 years ago. We just had the 8x diode floating around.
So maybe 400mA for a pushed 8x or 450 to 500mA for a freak 22x red
Unfortunately this is the switch that the kryton was designed to be used with.
With out redesigning the kryton, this is the switch we have to make do with.

One positive
Is that no mater what your kryton looks like, it is a classic!
It was the first custom built ''non flashlight mod'' host. It was a part of many of the original LPF founder's collections. I'm sure other members were making custom hosts for personal use, but this was available to all.
Some people have tried very hard to get a krytons in the past. I have seen just the host go for as high as $120+. I think we even had a member get scammed over a kryton host, lost a lot of $

Ill wait for my barrels to:)

And even if there are some minor blemishes or small spots in the anodizing, so what.
its all DIY, no factory made flashlight, or mass produced chinese hosts.
They are one of a kind!

This is why I still definitely want mine. :D

If you don't count heatsinks, diode, and Axiz module holders that fit flashlight bodies, there still really aren't many dedicated laser hosts out there.

The only other ground-up custom hosts I'm even aware of are the ones from Ehgemus. Or group buys of empty laser bodies from some of the asian sellers etc.
