I know I am irritating but Im super excited about getting my barrels. They didnt have anything special to them. I would like to know if they have shipped or not because I changed my shipping address a while back. I confirmed it with you but Im worried they might have accidentally been shipped to the wrong address.

no yours have not shipped yet. Watch the spreadsheet and when you turn to blue then red it will indicate your order has shipped :d

OMG!!! i got a hard on!!! are those mine?

I checked the spread sheet IM BLUE!!!!!!!

the green blue looks amazing. as does the blue and purple. the purple side of it looks a bit splotchy.. is there any way to clean it up? perhaps try again later down the line after more practice. If its not too much trouble for you im completely willing to wait!

thanks.

Grrr seriously? I had to hand paint acid onto the purple splotches to get them more clear. Have you ever tried to paint water onto a curved non-porous surface? LOL I'd get a dot on, and it would start to roll, then it would have to get rinsed super fast before it started causing the actual purple to fade. I mean yes, I can do it again although I'm pretty sure the outcome is going to be along the same lines as what you see, but I will try again. Sadly since this one has been sealed, there is no going back to try to "fix" this particular one. I'll show you some pictures of what it looked like before I splotched it, and before I hit it with acid to show you how badly the bleach dyed out the purple.

btw, the barrel looks more stunning IRL. The flash only illuminated part of it.

I'm not interested in trying to anodize aluminum tubes again. I tried with dilute sulfuric acid and only achieved a "thin" grey/silver finish(not enough current). My blue Rit fabric dye wouldn't penetrate. LOL You da man!

:( now i feel bad. Is it the same process as how you did the blue? i dont quite understand how the black and blue would have nice crisp clean edges to the splotching but the purple has fade.

Yes please show more pics..

well, with the purple, I hit it with bleach and allow the dye to leach out. With blue, it is almost instantaneous. With purple, it still leaves behind a trace of purple behind, and I have to hit it with acid afterwards to get rid of the last vestiges of purple. Only problem is as I described earlier, it's a curved solid surface and the acid is just like water. It has a tendency to roll off the side and I needed to use a small paint brush to paint on the acid. It has to be pretty strong right were I put it or it has no effect at all and a small thin layer of acid isn't going to do any good. So precision just isn't much of an option. If however, I hit the ENTIRE barrel with acid, it leaches out the color I don't want to go away.

Here you can see it before the acid has been applied but after the bleach. You can see in the blue that it's nice and clear where I applied the bleach, but the purple still has a lot of purple left behind.

Here it is BEFORE bleach or acid.

Here is what I did last night.

Plus I fiddled with a laser graphic on the end of the focus adapter. It's only a demo I plan on doing something a little more "artistic" than the simple star on this focus adapter.

I see. the process sounds pretty difficult. just a thought.. what would happen if you were to use a sponge and dab out the color?

is it possible to turn the acid into a gel form?

and as a final thought, what if you were to coat the barrel with clear nail polish (gloss) before applying the bleach and acid? then use acetone to remove the nail polish. (i can send you nail polish and acetone if needed.)

i looked up some stuff.. i cant ship acetone.. but i can send you some money for it.

if you use nail polish then you would not get the fluidness/randomness of the other techniques. Well i guys you might if you flicked in on like with a popsicle stick or something but not with the brush.

michael.
