Re: The REAL Kryton GB round #3

Well, I put myself down for one, but I might have made a boo boo :( When I was filling out the form for my Kryton Groove, I accidentally started typing in daguin's box. I hit control + Z to undo the changes, but please double check that I did not mess up his order. Sorry about that guys.

It's all good. It's as it should be.

as to the earlier question on delivery time frame involved on these. Ordinarily it takes MONTHS to complete these group buys. After I start collecting money when final prices have been determined, they start the manufacturing process. From there it takes a few weeks just to turn the hosts out on CNC and then they get sent to the anodizers. I've actually got my own anodizing bath now so will be trying to complete some of the custom stuff myself to maybe speed things up a bit. However even if everything goes smooth, from start to in your hands we're still looking at like 3-4 MONTHS. I probably won't even start collecting money for these for another month as I need to have a significant order quantity in order to defray the cost of having them CNC machined. As far as I'm concerned, it should mean that folks have a long time to save up some money for getting a few of these.

Anyway, things should move a lot more smoothly now that this whole process has been done 2 times.... YEAH RIGHT!

Re: The REAL Kryton GB round #3

Ok one issue taht I've just been reminded of.

WE NEED A DRIVER FOR THESE C-MOUNTS TO RUN OFF 2 18650'S. Dr. Lava is too busy to design something like these so the need is TANTAMOUNT. We've got some very talented idividuals here. Lets get to work on designing something. The person that does, has pretty much a guaranteed sale venue here in the Kryton beast as well as other types of high current laser diodes.

Re: The REAL Kryton GB round #3

I remember reading that the flexmod driver would work for higher power lasers like a c-mount. 5v - 12v dc input and up to 6amp output. I don't know much about c-mounts yet so I assume I am missing something important about this because certainly you know about the flexmod.

EDIT: Or is the flexmod too big because of the heatsink that it appears to have :)? I didn't realize that when I looked at it last time.

yeah the flexmod itself would work with the single problem of size. It won't fit into our host.

Re: The REAL Kryton GB round #3

do we have to put polished+anodized in the google doc sheet like putting a P behind the anodizing type or will all the anodized hosts be polished before anodizing? i absolutly dont want a scratched host like in those pictures

Ya know it wouldn't be a bad idea to just increase the cost of all of them and just polish them all. Instead of $50 for a Groove, it would be $55 or whatever the final cost would be... (prices are kinda tenutive at ths point)

sounds good to me, i gues no one wants unpolished after seeing those in your pictures.
although some people might still want it unpolished....

Kenom, can you please tell us when the gb ends? I might get one of these barrels, since I missed the first gb.

Re: The REAL Kryton GB round #3

I like the polished bare the best but I think the unpolished is still interesting. For the anodized colors the unpolished seem to be more identifiable as anodized to me anyway.

3zuli, your avatar and album pics are very neat. Thanks for creating them.

Re: The REAL Kryton GB round #3

there is a 18mm diameter hole inside for a driver inside the groove. There will be something similair inside the beast.

I might want one as well, but I'd also love to see the beast. Can anyone post a photo of it? I searched the pages but couldn't find a picture of it. So anyway, count me in for at least a Kryton

Since NONE HAVE BEEN MADE yet, a picture would be hard to find. There are a couple of "drawings" of the proposed "look" in the OP.

Peace,
dave
