I'm pretty heart set on a black beast. Kenom, don't expect payment for a while because paypal is being a dick.

If paypal is giving you a hard time. You may consider using a USPS money order, and send it with signature on delivery??

Dont let paypal ruin your chance to get in on this.

OK.
hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe

New option for the Beast.

Standard focus adapter free of charge.
just like a standard sky laser. As you turn the focus adapter it moves farther away from the top of the laser and focuses the laser out.

OR

The grand daddy.
oh I'm telling ya this thing is revolutionary!!

The top remains stationary but revolves around the diameter only. This then sucks the tube into the top allowing the lens, which is attached at teh bottom of the tube, to be moved closer and further from the laser diode.

Pontiac has modeled this for us.

The green pins recess into the yellow tube. This prevents the tube from spinning. Since it's not spinning but the cap (red) is, it will suck the yellow tube up into the red cap. :D

Why would you want this? Well honestly, I don't like a focus adapter to get long and stick out of the top of my laser. With the upgraded setup, the cap that sucks the tube into it by twisting, is held in place by a ball detent. Like a socket wrench where the ball prevents the socket from poppin loose. It will still allow the cap to swivel around to thread the tube into it. So the top NEVER moves out (unless you pull it off to fix somethin) Totally enclosed focusing. This will even allow for room for correction optics.

This will be available for the beast as well, but for an additional price to be determined.

You wont' see your lens stickin out the top like this.

You missed the most important part

With lenses like Drlava's they must stay perfectly orientated with the diode. This focus adapter does not turn when you focus it, it only pulls it out. This way you can have a focusing 445 with corrective optics.

Jesus kenom you just keep swaying my desires. I'm liking the new beast's focus adapter. BTW, I should be able to get the paypal thing sorted out in a week and a half. If not, I could mail you cash. I trust you not to scam me.

Ok I'm sold on this beast... I realize you just posted the specifics today but...

A beast, black anodized, 445 diode pressed, and the grand daddy focuser, plus S&H (US)...any kind of ballpark price estimate?

Thanks...this thing is really looking nice, keep up the awesome work.

Kenom, you might want to redesign the diode heatsink. It's kind of small and doesn't have a lot of area to transfer the heat to the body. It also makes loose contact through threads!...

A 1w 445 diode may pop.

The threads will be extremely high tolerance 3A&B sharp V threads. These threads will be so tight that it probably wouldn't make a difference, but you can add thermal paste as well to completely seal the thing up.

Have you ever looked at an aixiz module? There are people running 445 diodes in those things at powers >1W and those diodes do just fine.

We should have a price for this in about a week.

Well the black anodized beast is $85, the diode is $45, I'm thinkin the new focus adapter will be around $10-20 Shipping in the us. roughly $10

I think you'll be surprised at how well that diode mounting will heatsink to the body of the host. The mass of it alone is well over double that of an aixiz module.

Kenom, what are the dimensions of the beast? I love the thing except for the two 18560 part. I wonder if there is a way to modify It for one.

Holy crap that's massive! I still wish it only needed one 18650 though.

Kenom, What is the shipping price for 1 Kryton Groove? I've got the money to pay now. :)
The spreadsheet says $5-10...

Also, just to double check, it would be $60 for only a clear Kryton Groove (dusted/matte, you don't have to polish it).

Hey, you think you could model something else next to the beast, like an 18650 battery, just so that we can get some kind of relative scale...and post a pic?

Thanks

It is two inches around, by about 11 inches long.
