What's the output on these? I might be interested in one if the price is right.

the price is right, and the power is unknown. at ~500-600mA, you can expect at least 200mW of IR.

How powerful of a laser would I need to cut or etch glass. I have a feeling I would need a lab laser.
I assume these would not do it. but they would make one hell of a burner.

the problem with glass is that its transparent, and so all that light passes right through... I don't know about glass, but with a few watts you can cut metal.

you probably want something in the CO2 laser area since the long wavelength is absorbed by regular glass. they are more dangerous though and extremely fragile since it's a long glass tube and requires around 30,000 volts to operate

Just bid more dude. I hate to say it but... I TOLD YOU SO :p
I'll have one too if you can get more. And I'd expect around 400mw of IR.

dude the guy bought it for $15 + shipping not 100.

I guess I will just have to set a maximum bid of $2000 next time :p

400mW of IR? That would be Kik ass! Any ideas on how to get the TEC portion up and running?

the tec will need a few volts, but should be temperature regulated so it doesn't get too cold to the point where moisture will start condensing

I figured you were all over it, but it couldn't hurt. Let me know if he has enough to go around!
