Sounds good nightstick but I was wondering if anyone had hooked up an amp-meter between their power-source and the laser-driver. For the wall-wort 50ma or so is probably sufficient. After all it is only used to light up a small IR-LED.

If the current isn't enough to ionize the tube it will damage the RF power supply if allowed to remain on with essentially no load. do be careful here

OK, then I'll just charge a couple of Lead-acidcells overnight and try it with them tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up!

25 Watts ?? Where do you get 25??
Most Scientech meters will go to 20 watts but they seem to jump a bit

I got my PWM built. 2x2" -- that should fit. LiIon cells coming.
Damn fun project.

I got a plexi glass box built.. mounted a 10 amp toggle power swich and a momentary push button for the pwm its not done sill have to wire the fans and swiches I will get some pics as soon as I can,,it 1/4 inch plexi glass 6in tall by 4 in wide by 2 ft long I used clear silicone and hot glue to put it together, and it has clear rubber stick on feet on the bottom I mounted the supply and pwm with long stainlsee machine screws and I still have to finish securing the laser head on top of the power amp. :-X

Hey, be careful with those Li-ion-cells guys. Remember that a fully charged Li-ion-cell (eg 18650) usually puts out about 4,2V when fully charged.
Although... If you use seven cells that would nominally put out 25,9V they would put out about 29,4V when fully charged! So guess thats OK. Just keep it in mind when you're designing guys! Always measure voltage and polarity before you hook it up!

Man, is my charger slow. Have to wait another 12h for the second Lead-Acid-cell to charge. *:-/

Regards
/Tottish

EDIT:
And we have smoke! And where there is smoke there must be a laser firing it up! And it shure is, man this is fun!
Only had it on for like one minuit since my LeadAcid-cells didn't keep it over 26V for very long. But the mission is accomplished 'cause the PWM is working perfectly from what I could test out during those 60 seconds. Parts are ordered and my local distributer will hand them over tomorrow so I'll start putting the modules together tomorrow if I'm done with the PCB-CAD then!
Over and out!

EDIT2
Hey, Hemlock Mike! Did you get an Oscilloscope-reading with the PWM installed in the RF-enviroment thet the driver produce? Mine picked up quite alot of interference but I guess that should be expected since this harsh enviroment would be quite brutal to a single twisted-pair-cable. The controller seemed to work flawlessly though...
Did you ever think about getting a shielded cable for the PWM? I mean from what you guys have been talking about I guess a shielding ("Farady-caging&quot of the interference-source itself would affect the tunig so I guess thats out of the question.

yes the rf would bounce all over I think an old feid strengh meter would be neat to put next to the laser or mount on the case or maybe a small swr/power meter.. Tottish thanks for taking the time and effort to build the pwms for us do you think we could run the pwm with a 18650 Lynn * *Mike can you give me an Idea on cost on the Scientech 20 watt meters do you know of any for sale?

I haven't powered mine with the PWM connected yet. Maybe tonight if I have time.

Scientech 365 meters sell for $50 to $150 depending on age and condition.. There's a 362 there now for about $30. NOW -- the sensor head can run between $75 and $200. Most of the meters on ebay don't come with the thermal head.
