These are like the good old DVD drives, extract the diode and you are set. 18.99 + shipping.

you could choose that option, as it may be cheaper for some. I personally would choose the PHR's, because they come in the optical sled, and all you have to do is pop the diode out.

so I guess this is where it divides, and so if you want to back out do it now.

you misunderstood me - they ARE PHR-803T's ;) They work fabulously, too !

LOL it's still DIY, but someone else does it himself/herself. It becomes sort of a distributed DIY project.

haha sorry bout that... so they are using PHR-803T's in the DVD drives? That is interesting!

so yea, ill set up a payment page soon, and people can pay there if they are still in.

Yes, they are 2X HD dvd drives - hence the diode arrangement inside. They are the same drives that Microsloth uses in some of their X-box 360 HD-DVD external drives.

I live in Ca so shipping to me is very little from geeks.com I will also probably receive them sooner. Sorry to say I am going to have to take this route.

Remember, if you live in CA you're also going to have to pay sales tax (unless you're registered with them as a reseller).
