Crazyspaz, there is enough room for a full AixiZ type module. There are some revisions going on at the moment. What would you like to see at the level of the contact board? It could be opened out at the end if there is enough interest.

I usually try to stay away from soldering drivers right to diodes- sometimes its not even possible, depending on the driver layout. Just making sure theres enough room to use leads to and from the driver.

crazyspaz, I get that. There is 35mm from the end of the heat sink to the place where the contact board will go. I hope this helps you in your decision.

I would love to see this host be able to either be plug and burn and have enough room to use external driver if the user so desires. I would rather have the plug and burn hosts but there are lots that don't!

Plug and burn is nice to have. Though most people prefer the bare host. But you got that option here so everyone is happy :beer:

I would be in for one, with copper heatsink.

Would the polished option include a protectant? Especially for the copper?

ChaosLord, no the polished option and the clear coat option are different and have charges for each. I will put you on the spreadsheet for the polished option and you can decide if you want more or less. I can change it at any time.

I can only speak for myself but I would like to see something similiar to a kryton, Ie press fit diode and an easy to mount heat sinked location for the driver.

also making the diameter of the host large enough to accept some of the newer bigger drivers to power the current hungry diodes.

Yes, there are many different hosts to be had for different uses and prices. This one is a machined host that can take a full AixiZ module and it can take a seperate driver. It is designed to take the place of flashlight hosts and has a large (relatively) heat sink top that can accommodate many different builds at a very inexpensive price. It won't take the place of every host out there and is what it is.

Would there be any interest in extending the heatsink 5-10 mm? It looks like the host has room, and personally, I like big heatsinks, so I just wanted to throw that out there. Hopefully it wouldn't raise the price too much. If the design is flexible, let me know what you think. :beer:

We just got finished extending the heat sink 15mm. Maybe you hadn't heard. That was done to add room inside the head. it also added to the mass of the heat sink.
