Great! Can't wait to see the final product. I go into surgery again tomorrow at 6:15 A.M. I am scheduled to be there overnight, so I won't be back until the day after tomorrow. I'm hoping that this is the last of the surgeries I will have endure for a good long while. Thanks everyone.

That's great news, joker. I think I speak for everyone when I say we are very anxious to receive our new hosts. I am convalescing as well as can be expected. I will know more on Monday when I get this catheter out and see if it is still necessary. Thank you to everyone who has been so nice to me during my three surgeries over the past three weeks.

It is not too big. And very very nice to handle. I am really excited with the result.

They turned to be very very good.

I will be able to start shipping them next week.

Ha! I was just in the process of putting these out myself when I found that joker had already done it. They are nice shots of the new hosts and only make me want mine more. I may have a couple that haven't been posted yet, so I'll see what I can do.

Hmm, we have not named them yet ! I dub thee MPH-001 ! ( multi purpose host - series 1 )
New from SciFi Lasers , its the SFL - MPH - 001 !

WE could also call it the 100MPH but that's my suggestion. So good to see you well Paul!

Thanks, Blair. I will know more tomorrow as that is the day the catheter comes out. If I have any problems after I remove it, I will have to go into the urologist's tomorrow and see what else can be done.

These turned out nicely! Do u have any pics of the coated ones?

Also can we see how the tailcap unscrews (I cannot tell where the break is)?

Thanks for the GB, y'all

The tailcap doesn't come apart at all. The only place they unscrew is the heat sink and the battery compartment. That is how you get the batteries in and out of it, and also, where you gain access to the module and contact board, but the aluminum battery compartment is all one piece. Joker just got these when he sent the photos, so he hasn't had time yet to do much more with them, yet. I'm sure after he has more time, he'll add more photos to show what the others will look like. ;)

Okay, yeah I thought it might be that. Does it require a tool?

Edit: oh oops, didn't fully understand. Got it now

The two parts screw together. The battery compartment is complete and needs no wiring or servicing of any kind. The heat sink is drilled for a 12mm module that is held in place with a set screw and the contact board comes either wired or do-it-yourself. There is room for a driver on the contact board if it isn't too large or tall. It was designed to be a small, user friendly host that should have a decent duty cycle because its heat sink is all copper which has a thermal conductivity of 1.8 times that of aluminum.

So , I did not had the time to build a 1W or any super power laser into the host.

But I did assembled a 200mW 650nm red one into it.

And check this out :

NewHost-650nmDuty-Cyletest_zpsf7019396.jpg

This test was done with my Ophir 5W Laserbee over 1355 seconds which are 22.5 minutes.

The drops you see at the start is me moving the laser while checking if it is warm. So they mean nothing :)

Bassically with the small diodes it do not get warm at all. I can run it for an extra hour and I think the result will be the same.

I will be able to check a 2W 445nm laser in this host in the weekend. Shooting for around 3-4 minutes duty-cycle.

I'm not surprised that you got a long duty cycle from these lower power lasers. I expect to get at least a 3 minute duty cycle out of the 445nm 2+ watt laser I plan on putting in one of these and an even longer duty cycle out of the 1+ watt 635nm I plan on putting in another one. The copper has a thermal conductivity of 1.8 times that of the same volume of aluminum, so like my Cyprus copper host, these should give an exceptionally long duty cycle as long as they are used with copper modules. I am very anxious to get them and put these lasers into them. Congratulations!
