There's nothing disapointing about the 44, except divergence, I use both g2 and 3ele

Dose any one here have a block/heat sink they can send me with out the laser diodes in it ?

I have a idea I can remove the diodes without using any heat to un solder them but I will need a block to do the preliminary testing on and if that works I will probably do a GB for a block with diodes in it and we'll go from there.

The 44 with G2 and 6x pair is AWSOME, but more power in a tighter spot is welcome as well.

p.s. I had a unit paid for @ 385.00 and that was an ebay listed seller, I have messaged but they just say sorry, the stock ran out bla bla bla.

I am impressed with the 06 diode, it seems to make a shorter line testing with a G7, but I will test with a G2, I have a brand new one, the line at 15 feet is 3/4 inch with G7, the 44 is 7/8 with 3 ele and 2.0 inches with G2, I bet 1.5 -1.6 with G2 on nubm06.....heck I will go find out.

Have you seen the power this 06 kicks out, Abarnett metered at 7.75w

4 feet with only G7 lens

YES The NUBM06 through a brand new DTR G2 makes a 1.5 inch line at 15 feet where the 44 makes a 2.0 and the 06 looks thicker, it was not the Gball at all, they have maybe seamlessly stacked 2 emitter, p/n junctions?

This through the 6x will work very well, 75% the 44's line length and a touch more power = win.

I expect the 08e will be like this only more efficient and stronger, this is good.

Default Re: NUBM08E the new 9-10 watter

Cylindrical beam shaping optics, they will shrink that rapidly diverging line by a factor of 6

So if a 2 inch line from a NUBM44 through a G2 at 15 feet has 6X pairs aligned that 2 inches becomes less than 3/8 but more than 5/16 of an inch, and you have a tighter spot containing your useful energy. The 06 being 1.5 will become 1/4 of an inch, of simply a spot 75% that of the 6X corrected nubm44.

This makes tasks such as wood burning art easier at a comfortable working distance, if your palate is a 4x8 sheet of plywood placed against a safe backstop such as a cinder block wall on your property, then you can work from a comfortable distance and have enough concentrated energy to burn lines in at the speed you want to move, you can do gray shading, and vary line width by rotating, buy I digress, 6x are the beam shaping optics that shrink the highly divergent output, but you want to start small with a short FL lens like G2 because these work like a single axis beam expander, there by extending useful line width for better working range, but these multi mode diodes are limited, you can't get any thing to burn at 100 of meters or anything, but you can improve the beam shape and observed divergence.

p.s. you can also get them in 2x, 3x and 4x for other diodes to improve observed divergence, much like the grin lens and focus lens in a 532 works only, but in this case they are flat sided or cylindrical so they only adjust the rapidly diverging axis, these MM diodes have 1 very divergent axis.

My point in this demonstration is that axis is less divergent in this diode than the 44.

Red, is there an easy way to have an adjustable output on these diodes (say through the driver). I would like to vary the output from 1 watt to max.

Also, any news on availability and a possible group buy?

I will have some adjustable output drivers in a couple days. They are green board prototypes but they have a new chip that's very efficient. The potentiometer is wired remotely and max output can hit 6 amps.

Default Re: NUBM08E the new 9-10 watter

After further examination and testing of the NUBM06 it demonstrates to have better divergence than the NUBM44 but not always more power, some have tested slightly less than the NUBM44 as far as total output watts and only one set of test showed it as slightly higher, but this can not be considered absolute proof as testing methods are in question.

The line produced through a focused DTR G2 at 5 METERS is 2.0 inches for the NUBM44 and 1.5 inches for the NUBM06

So as the 06 is rated as a 32w block and the 08e a 36w block I would not get too excited about it, it may only touch 8 watts, or it may just be a NUBM44 with better divergence, so until testing is done I would get a NUBM44, they are great diodes and with a BE or cylindrical pair make a great laser.
Now for wood burning art or home CNC, or what ever your purpose, actually a G2 and a 06 or 44 make a good home CNC cutter.

If you want to accept a little less power but want better divergence for use with off the shelf lenses then the NUBM06 is a good choice as well, but until fully tested the NUBM44 is still the reigning king. THE DTR G2 is my preferred lens for cutting as it burns better and produces the cleanest output and better working range for CNC p.s. I cut slowly in these videos, it can cut much faster.

Default Re: NUBM08E the new 9-10 watter

With the 08 still being a complete guess at this point, I'm leaning towards a 06 over a 44. Mostly because of the price difference. I've seen the 06 blocks for like $500 ea. So that would be under $65 per diode. Being that the 44 and 06 seam pretty evenly matched in they're own right, that price difference is the determining factor right now. Still waiting on DTR's power results for the 06 though. Hopefully he is able to test it these couple of days!

14mm x 28mm x 2-3mm without heat sink.. the heat sink you see in his image is the MINIMUM requirement for cooling that thing.
