Glenn, how many more 447s and 589s, respectively, do we need?

I'm in for a 447, i'm probably going to have to wait till next GB for a beefy 589 unfortunately, just due to this month being "interesting".

This is only tentative. I may be in for a PGL-III-M-589nm 10mW $540. I'll let you know for sure ASAP. Hopefully I'll know by the 14th.

OK, it does seem we need a bit more time to get to 10X units of the 589 or 10X the 447nm still... Thanks! -glenn

Glenn,

Can you post a tally or who's in for what, so far? Just for confirmation, for one, and also, it may encourage other people to jump on board.

I'm in for the 447 as well (per PMs). I was really hoping we'd have enough by now - I really can't wait to get my hands on it, looks like a great laser.

Well, I didn't order a 447, but I did get in with this GB with a 532. Might be in for a 589 though, depending on the stats and the funding. Does anyone have one of the 1mW 589's and know what kind of output it has? Any stats on divergence?

Also, how long do GB's from CNI typically take? Looking at GB 10 and 9, they seem to take 1-2 months from the time Glenn places the order until he has the lasers. Sound about right?

jedirock, That's been my experience; 1-2 months, sometimes 3 if things dont go quite right but -- you will get your lasers... and through Glenn's GB's theyr egenerally overspec.

I don't know about the 1mW 589s but with the output I'm seeing from my 20mW, I can't see how they could even keep it that *low*.

I'd figure as much, but I'm wondering if anyone can actually confirm this with one of the lower powered GLP series pointers in 589nm. Not necessarily the 1mW version, but the PGL has better heatsinking, which could mean it's driven further for its rating. (Doubtful, but I'd like to be sure)

I will keep trying to get the older models at a lower price, (such as the 593.5 nm pens and the 473nm units, but so far, they hold firm to the last price list... More as I get news... -Glenn

Okay, I can't get in with a 589. I'd love to, but the money just isn't there right now.

How long until you place the order, Glenn? What else are we waiting on?

EDIT: Oops, forgot Dr_Evil was waiting on a decision for a 589... So not until the 14/15th at the earliest. No idea about 447's though.

When I last talked to Glenn, it seems we needed far more yellow orders; I don't know if we're there with 447 yet... I think 589 is the spot where this group buy needs some love...

Here's something that might motivate people... If this GB#11 is so hard to "trigger", and get the right quantities -- its possible that this could be the last GB in a long time.

So if you've been sitting on the fence on a 589, this may be the time. I really think that this whole Arctic thing set the entire hobbyist laser 'scene' on its head.

The "extreme burning guys" have been satisfied at a really low price (though 445/447 is a really nice WL) but some of us "wavelength guys" seem to be not getting any benefit.. (which I suppose makes sense, since DPSS demand in any sort just went down.)

Anyways, I do wish Glenn would let us know how many of each we still need, I think that'd motivate folks too.

Yeah, would be nice to know how many are still needed. I would absolutely love to get a 589nm, as it looks to be a very nice colour, but I just don't have any money available right now. I might be able to do it early next week, but I'd have to see what my situation is like. The CR2 battery requirement is a bit of a bummer, but I should be able to find CR2's somewhere, whether that be online or retail.

I just use DealExtreme RCR2's (3.0V, UltraFire i think) that I've gotten from O-Like and DealExtreme... they really aren't that bad..get 4 (they're real cheap) and a charger (that's cheap too) and you're pretty much set.

Talking about these batteries? What charger? One review of those batteries points to this charger, but if there's any others that are better, let me know.

Also, if it's needed, I should be able to support one GLP 589 @ $250, but I wouldn't be able to purchase any more lasers for about two months. :cryyy: Oh well, if it's for the good of the group buy, I'll do it. If we have enough of the 589's, then I'd prefer to wait on it until I have some more funds ready, but I can do it if needed.

Glenn, feel free to chirp in anytime. ;)
