Here's the link to the Viasho GB
This has been in the planning for a long time and just this week it all fell together.
Viasho Group buy Lasers
I'm certain these are the lowest prices to be found.
Right now, only green are listed, but blue will included before the weekend is out.
Their is an extra 3% discount on these low prices if you are logged into your Optotronics account.
Their is another 2% discount given if your payment method is by USPS money order. To pay by money order, use our contact us contact form to place the order and get payment instructions.

Photos in the photo section are all the silver RPL, not the black Viasho; I'll post a picture later, but we all know what they look like.

We will place this 2nd GB order March 15th, sooner if this GB is as popular as the 1st one.
Customer delivery will be 2-3 weeks after the GB order is placed.

If you have any questions, use our contact us form on the website as we don't follow the forum daily or use the LPF PM function anymore.

Re: NEW Viasho Group buy #1

Holy Crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: NEW Viasho Group buy #1

Wow! ~50% discount?! And nothing fishy here?

Re: NEW Viasho Group buy #1

Damn hope I can get in on these great deals..... Only if this is still goin by the end of the month.

Re: NEW Viasho Group buy #1

oh my god this is so tempting, I might go with this GB since there's not going to be a better deal around.

What about customs issues, not that there should be any for the UK should there?

I might sell my current collection and get this 250 :P

Re: NEW Viasho Group buy #1

i read. "They are rated at peak power output, average sustained output above rating is not guaranteed"

so the 250mw version could be sunstained 200mw.... and 250 peak.

Re: NEW Viasho Group buy #1

Aha, so there are some downsides, thus the huge discount. Still an attractive offer though.

Re: NEW Viasho Group buy #1

500mW of 532nm for $700? Even if that's peak, and average is anywhere >400mW, this sounds like an awesome opportunity to grab the cousin of the RPL.
:D
Way to go, Jack!

No, normally they average above that and peak even higher :D

Just out off curiosity do you guys think it's worth selling all my lasers apart from my argon, and putting in the extra to get the 400? I would have liked to have gotten a 300 or 350, but they arn't on offer :(

Re: NEW Viasho Group buy #1

Those prices are very tempting...a 500mW model would be pretty sweet.

Nothing fishy with Jack. He can be trusted. In case any new readers don't know, these lasers are basically what grow up to be Optotronics RPLs.

No, normally they average above that and peak even higher :D
Yeah, that's my point. A previous post said:

So, even if the 500mW is only peak, and if it only sustains anything >400... Dang, that's >400mW of green for >30% less than a 400mW RPL.

I'll be very surprised if folks who want an RPL, but can't quite afford one yet, don't jump on this.

Re: NEW Viasho Group buy #1

may have to sell my beloved RPL 350 to upgrade to the 500...
any offers??? LOL

Re: NEW Viasho Group buy #1

Keep in mind your rpl is the silver, this one is the black. Also yours has better specified divergence. Amongst othe subtle differences that make the RPL an RPL and as someone already pointed out this is a peak measurement. I'm not saying this isn't a good deal I'm just saying you may want to think that idea over a bit. Maybe even get Jack's opinion. He wouldn't lead you down the wrong direction.

Re: NEW Viasho Group buy #1

What sustained power levels can be expected of these though? Say i'd buy the 400 mW model, is there any guarantee it will sustain, for example, >350 mW for 5 minutes or anything like that?

There is no guarantee of sustained or average output above a certain level.
Some may have average / sustained output power above their rating and others below.
Before they are shipped to customers they will be checked for peak power output, those which don't reach the rated value will not go to customers, so everyone is guaranteed that they get a laser with peak output equal to or above the rated value.
