This GB is now closed, we were able to order a total of 12 pairs of ML-7 goggles, thanks everybody!!

http://mysite.verizon.net/grall/darkhorsecustom/id71.html

“The problem”
Like many "laserists' here on the forum, I play “work” with some powerful lasers of different wavelengths and need to protect my eyes. When looking into buying some goggles you realize that most lenses only protect against a single-wavelength, which makes sense, if they protected against every wavelength they would be opaque. For me this would mean buying at least 4-different goggles at $30-$100 each. So again, like many others I asked, what about multi-wavelength protection, is it possible?

“The solution?”
Well it is, they filter out very-specific "laser-corresponding-wavelengths", while letting much of the rest of the light through, but the less expensive MW-lenses let less than 1% of the visible light through to your eyes, this would not be good. In reading through the reviews here this question has been brought up many times and 1-pair of glasses keeps being mentioned, the ML7s from OEM laser-systems. These let 13% of visible light through, they are described in a review as just a little darker than sunglasses, they are also certified by ANSI for Laser protection.
Specs are
OD 5+ @ 190-400nm
OD 2.5+ @ 532nm
OD 1.5+ @ 630-655nm
OD 3.7+ @ 795-1070nm
OD 4+ @ 810-1064nm
VLT = 13%

Several members have purchased these goggles, even with their $157 list-price and here is one review:

And some discussion of multi-wavelength goggles here:

Others members that may have experience with these lenses, please post you impressions in this thread. ;)
Here is the manufactures site:

“The Deal”
So I contacted "Frothy Chimp", (LPF member and OEM Laser Systems Representative), and a group buy was suggested. I now have the specifics of what price we can expect to purchase these goggles in numbers from OEM Laser Systems.
Now keep in mind that OEM Laser Systems already extends a generous 7.5% discount to all LPF members and these glasses are available in August for “group-discounts”
Here's the discount breakdown:

1-4: 0% discount
5-9: 5% discount
10-19: 7.5% discount
20-99: 10% discount
100+:  15% discount

Then add on top of that the 7.5% discount for LPF (NOR200801)
So if we get 20 people, we could get 10%+7.5%(LPF-Discount)=17.5% off
These goggles are now listed at $151 retail so 17.5% would be about a $25 savings!
There is also some shipping to cover, the supplier would bulk-ship all of the goggles to me, and I would split them up and send them out, and of course Pay Pal always gets theirs, but the goal is to get them for $130-$140 delivered to the US, and slightly higher for international delivery. There are several styles available, although one pair does cost an additional $15. This Buy is for the ML7-lensed-goggles only, review the choices here:
http://store.oemlasersystems.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=8_10_15&products_id=44

“The Disclaimer”
I personally have absolutely no connection with OEM other than what you have read in a couple of threads and a PM. They seam like a very reputable company and Frothy Chimp has been a wealth of laser-industry knowledge on this forum for a very long time. I have no reservations in dealing with them.
I have not personally reviewed, tested, or even held these goggles, I am satisfied enough with the information that I have read from the members whom have purchased these that they are a viable "single-goggle-solution", and I am willing to take that risk. Please do your own research as well and make this determination for yourself, I can make no promises on the performance of the eye wear except to say that if they do no meet the published specifications, they will get sent back and replacements or refunds would be given. I do not expect there to be any problem.

“The Time-Frame”
I really do not want to drag this out, additionally this opportunity for group-discounts is only available through August. I will begin taking names of people that can commit to participating in this GB right now. Please post in this thread.
Please if you commit, we will all need you to follow through in a couple of weeks.
I am setting a deadline of August 18th for collecting names. If we have over 20 people committed by then, I will begin collecting funds to make a group purchase from OEM by August 26th. If we do not have at least 20 commited by Aug 18th, we will probably call it off, the savings just do not justify it over purchasing individiually.

“The Sermon”
It is time to get some protection, I am not going to preach about being careful, but we play with very powerfull lasers. How can we prove to the world that we are responsible laser-users? Well I would think that becoming responsible would be a good start. If we have a sharp rise of Laser-hobbists receiving retinal-burns, it give the press and politicians something to talk about, our hobby will be short-lived. Oh yeah, and don't shine your laser into the sky at aircraft... damn, I got "preachy", oh well.

EXCELLENT work, DarkHorse ! I think I many want to take a shot at those goggles, but I'll have to see how finances are....so until you get my money, do NOT count on me being able to participate...I don't want to hold up the entire GB waiting on me - but I DO want to participate...hope that makes sense ? anywho, thanks for putting this together - I HIGHLY recommend Frothy, and OEM for anything they sell - real, stand up folks there :)

My preferance would be for style 35 as well, but you may choose any of the styles as long as they are the ML-7 lenses. Before August style 34 was listed as costing an additional $15, but now it says nothing of an additional cost for this style, I will clarify with FC.
Thanks for the support Senkat, I will start a list of "seriously interested" and we can see were everybody stands on Aug 18th.

I am still firming up shipping costs, but it looks like it will be $4 for US orders $6 for international.- I will be shipping USPS 1st class with "Delivery Confirmation", in bubble-padded evvelopes.
So, It looks like it will be $6 to Canada.

I would think it would be easier to convince your mom to buy "high-powered laser eye-protection" than the "high-powered lasers" that you undoubtably already have LOL. ;D

Put me down in the "likely" category as well. I like how these have very good IR attenuation and good OD--but not too much--for 532nm. If I'm going to spend $60-$70 for one at Nova, I might as well invest a little, or a decent amount more, for this deal.

Put me down for one, I have held off most of my testing as I haven't got a decent set of goggles.
