What would you do with Caesium anyway? All you can do with it is look at it. You can only handle it under a protective atmosphere (nitrogen or argon), which requires a specially equipped laboratory.

If you had thick gloves and the cesium stored in ampuoles, you could have a cesium-throw into water. That would be a lot of fun! Expensive though; sodium is a lot cheaper.

It'll definitely be in an ampoule as it spontaneously ignites upon contact with air. Upon contact with water, there's an explosion. With sodium/natrium, you can see the glob skitter around on the surface, more fun for longer!

Thanks for the great GB! I recently saw some gallium for sale at $12 per gram and some tellurium at $19 per gram so this is quite an awesome price

Thank you very much Jaseth!

Where was it being sold for that much?! What a rip-off! If you see an element you want online, contact me about it and I can probably get it for cheaper. As I have said before, this is because I am ordering straight from a metal supplier and not bothering with a retailer. This means, of course, I have to order a larger quantity, but that's why I'm doing this GB!

If this order covers Europe, I will want a few pounds of bismuth shot.

A diamagnetic suspension with an electrostatic driver unit is the most promising approach for precision rotation, translation and oscillation. That will be an interesting experiment, to say the least. Then I'll just have to find some good neodymium magnets to use it with, so I don't double my power bill with a field coil.

Sounds great! Shot's the form I will be getting most of the elements in, for everybody's information, and if you would like them in another form, just melt them down. Most of these have a pretty low melting point, and can be melted with a propane torch or even a campfire without trouble.

The GB ends Friday, please get payments to me ASAP>

Thanks,
Mark

Just sent payment, thanks! I ended up spending a little more than I originally wanted to, but it is worth it. I have always been intrigued with metals so the ones I got will be fun to play with.

Thanks styropyro! It will definitely be worth it. I'll try to get them out to you guys as soon as possible, but I have no idea when that will be, it all depends on the time it takes to ship to me.

@dark_horse: I'm sure you will find, as I have, that pure metals are a load of fun!

I'm planning a similar contraption, without any driver though. DX carries some Nd magnets that look promising, both for the suspended little one and the pulling magnet at the top.

The bismuth you can melt over a gas range quite easily, its melting point isnt much higher than ordinary solder... you can even melt it with most soldering irons, but to cast pound heavy discs/cilinders a stove is more convenient
