“The Mitsubishi ML520G72 is a high-power, highly efficient semiconductor laser diode which provides an emission wavelength of 638 nm (bright red) and standard light output of 500mW.”

This diode has several benefits over the traditional diodes used in laser projectors, one is the anode and cathode are isolated from the body which means you no longer need to insulate your diodes from the metal diode mount, also we have found the diode can handle over heating quite well and it will shut down when over heated then recover again when cooled for over 15minutes. The beam specs we have managed so far have been similar to the 445nm blue diodes albeit a little wider when used with a typical Open can collimator. Also we think the 500mW maximum can be exceeded too, however, as we do not have many to test yet we are not pushing them too much. I will upload some of our test photos soon as possible.

The data sheet can be found here :http://www.dpss.ro/manuals/spec_ML520G72.pdf

Prices for ML520G72

210 USD each + shipping
164 Euro each + shipping

Shipping will be calculated as the group buy ends, a tiny amount will be added for additional protective packaging.

The diodes come in an original Mitsubishi packet that has actual test data specific for the enclosed diode: its serial number, optical specs, threshold etc.., like a small personalized data sheet specific for the diode, these little packets will be placed in another protective packet or box as required.

Delivery 2-3 weeks once the GB has closed.

Getting close now to 200 units so we'll keep the GB open until we top it, then I will request another price from Mitsu and close the GB.

Payment: Paypal. Details will be sent by PM along with the final total.

Send me a PM with your "PL ID, Country, Quantity" so I can keep track easier on my local PC instead of having to copy the text too and from windows or maybe you will be missed of the list.

Or if you are a photonlexicon user you can join the GB on there at ML520G72 638nm 500mw Diode Group Buy list

I am going to offer 2 options for beam correction.

1, knife edging lens set. 4mm x 0.5 - 1mm beam
2, PBS combining set. 3mm x 2.5 mm beam

Hmmm 5.6mm class IV red....decisions decisions. My question is what type of collimation we could get in a handheld for this red. I read its worse than the 445's to correct.

cd520, they are not as easy as most common diodes such as LOC but I spent lot of time finding the right lens combination, most people who tried used off the shelf $2 lenses similar to what is used for LOC diodes and simply those are not up to the job as those cheaper lenses tend to clip the beam off and also don't do an actual good job of correcting the beam in the first place. It takes three lenses to get a good beam but even then the costs are low enough to justify it.

I will be posting some specific details very soon with some good photos.

Thanks for your feedback

Andy

Cool, thanks for the info. I jumped headfirst into this hobby just recently and have several projects in the works but I am interested in this diode, depending on when the GB ends.

I might get in on this. I would like to see the pics first though.

I was trying to contact someone to get prices. He'd ask for the part number. He claims he never gets the e-mail when I send the part number though. I finally said f*** it.

Andy --
This is kinda a BTT but do you have enough "serious" orders to get to 100 pieces?
I understand that comments like " I'm really interested" or "I might get one" or "If I had the money, I'd really..." etc etc as found here don't count as a serious adult committment.
I'm still in for one diode -- Serious.

Hi. HMike.

Andy sent me a PM @PL yesterday just after posting @PL. He wrote he will return to his office on Friday and then will refund. I'll wait by Friday.

I am very interested in this GB. When I try and access the data sheet it asks for a user and password. What are they?

Also what are some other options for lenses? Is there any good lense for collimating this diode that will fit in an aixiz module?
