Actually yes the driver was specifically designed for the barrels so yes they will work. However if your going to use the groove drive you have to use 2 cr123's. this was actually the default setup for the barrels. The flex drive is an upgrade option utilizing the 18650 battery.

Just got my barrel in the mail :D

Very happy with the design, I even managed to get the colored tubing into the barrel, took alot of work and I still haven't finished. I think the red combined with the anodizing looks quite nice.

Thanks for the hard work kenom!

Man getting that tubing into the barrel was a definite physical strain. I don't think I am going to need to do my daily exercise today. As kenom already mentioned the colored tubing is quite a bit wider than the standard black one (which goes in without a problem). So what you have to do is stretch it out a lot then while it is stretched push it into the groove, it is a lot more of a hassle than I thought it would be, but it is manageable, especially for those who might find the different color of tubing better suited to their anodizing choice.

Thanks. Kenom really outdid himself with these barrel's it is a bit bigger than I expected, but it gives it this extra beefy feel which is really nice actually.

Which color did you go for?

You can find on ebay, hollow core colored rubber in shorter sections. I'll find a quick auction. http://tinyurl.com/6bycxv. Yes it's a little bit more expensive this way as you'll probably need to get 2 to fit all the grooves and will need to cut off the fasteners. but it will work unlike the larger diameter stuff.

Thanks for the tip Kenom. But in all reality these thicker ones aren't that hard to get in. All you need is a pair of pliers and some patience. Thanks for supplying the extra set in red, goes great with the anodizing.

as promised... almost.  Tried to get beam shots up there, but the air was too clear! So, here's a shot taken from my backyard in the rain at 2am. The beam stops at a tree about 300 feet away; the bright lumps in the beam are from raindrops crossing it. Big Red is clearly visible on that tree in the daytime!

Don't be so sure, I had 2 protected that didn't fit.
