Just ordered one with a Lavadrive2... hoping to make me a stunning 803T build to impress the ladies :D

Just wondering what order I made it on? When to expect them to be built and shipped? I tried reading through the past 10 pages, and couldn't really figure it out.

There's only been two "runs" The first is for the original Kryton's. They are being shipped now. There are no extras lying around ;)

The second is for the "Groove". This is what is at the machine shop now. If you just went to order on Kenom's page, you ordered a "Groove". They're going to be awhile yet.

Peace,
dave

Thanks for the clarification, Dave ;)

I had seen people saying "I just made it" etc, thinking that maybe he had cut off for the first run of the V2 barrel and started a second... and I saw something about it being about a month from when he submits the order, so I wondered about if/when the order had already been submitted, etc.

Re: Laser Barrels V2. GB. Second run. Kryton Groov

Essentially what it was, was that they were going to go to the manufacturer on a certain date and everyone was guaranteed a barrel if they placed an order before the date specified. They have not sold out yet, so your order is on the slate for this coming run. I was told that they wouldn't get around to my order recently until the 16th of this month. so from there it will take about 2 weeks for them to finish the barrels.

On another front, I am now in communication with the anodizer and they have told me that once they have barrels it will take NO MORE than 10 days (business) to anodize the barrels. Then it's ship them back to me and once again ship them out to everyone. We're getting closer and closer to this one's conclusion.

Cool, I'm looking forward to it :) I really want to make a nice looking 405nm laser!

Also, what color will the anodizing be? I'm guessing it has been metioned somewhere in the 33 pages between the first and here, but it would probably take me a while to find it....

For the sake of those of us (me) that haven't been following the thread, would you mind putting some of this info and updates in your 1st or 2nd post?

Thanks for all the work you've done putting this all together!

or just bend the pin to touch the casing.  Right?

I'd be careful about bending the pin too much. Just a little, to solder it together with the case pin. Check this picture:

At the top of that thread, Lava shows that his driver is using a silicon diode to reduce the power supply to about 5.5 volts in this blu-ray configuration...

i can't understand it too well without my driver in front of me - but i understand that there is a point on the lavadrive that would connect to the case?

The FlexDrive has two points for negative current to be connected. As long as the negative current from the battery is connected to one of the points, as well as the negative pin of which ever LD you are using, it will work!

In the Kryton build, the negative current travels through the barrel case, which is contacting the diode case. So with the 803T diode pin connection, you only need to connect the case pin, together with the negative pin. Then as long as they are connected to one of the negative connections on the FlexDrive, you are set.

803T pin out: http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1209940381/180#186

Quote from Lava's instruction sheet: "The battery ground does not have to be connected if the diode ground is battery ground and case connected, because the battery and diode ground traces on the board are continuous."

It is an excellent driver! I have found that the lasers I have built using the FlexDrive, are rock solid steady. You can pretty much expect there to be no fluctuations on the power meter...

Does the 803T have a photodiode? Because if it did, it might mess things up...

From what I understand, the die is completely isolated from the case. And since the LD case is grounded in it's original environment, I took a chance and allowed the case pin, to be the same contact as the negative pin.

This was back a while...when I was doing the 2 X build ($300 diode): http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1202396141/72#73

After that, drlava and Hemlock Mike did the same with the 6 X. The 803T diodes are the same connection...

It is not.  The focusing tool is just an aluminum tube with pins bent out to sit in the screw points on the lens.  Very easy to make.  I can sell ya one if ya really want for $7 shipped

If your referring to the lens they are just a basic aixiz lens. Any lens that fits in an aixiz module will fit in a barrel.

Still at 37 buyers? Is there an updated list?
