How often do you guys polish your hosts to keep the mirror finishes? Also, can you get a mirror finish without sanding it on a lathe?

These won't need to be sanded, you can just use a buffing wheel and polishing compound.

Or if you're feeling really brave, a wash cloth and polishing compound...

personally, I plan to GITD the crap out of these grooves and head fins.

May keep 5 back for myself for 405,445,520,638, and 650. with GITD to match to their colors.

Looks like i will be going with the wash cloth. How often do you have to polish it to keep its finish?

just polish it, and don't touch it, EVER. It will stay beautiful forever.

9mm grooves finally updated, they left Alaska, so if they hurry, I may be able to pick them up in the morning.

It's looking like Monday is going to be the main shipping date for the Grooves though, with the 9mm box being delayed. The correct retaining rings will be arriving Monday as well per the UPS tracking.

I need to get the rubber strips cut for the inserts too....

I'm a little scared of the first class international shipping option for the grooves. This bare aluminum dings very easily. I guess i'll wrap them in some additional bubble wrap and hope that protects them.
domestic shipments are fine as I've got boxes I can mail them in for cheap to keep them protected. I'll see what postage rates I get with the international orders in these boxes, if I don't get super raped by the additional price i'll send them that way to keep them protected.

Matt, they look great. I can't thank you enough for running this GB! Now I just need to grow another arm to actually makes them into lasers. :(

Matt, now that you've examined the hosts, I have to know! Do we have to use spring loaded square drivers with these, or can we use a blank board/17mm driver board to drive these? I still need that extra before you ship...

You're the best, man...I can't imagine the logistical bullshit you have to wade through for this ungodly big GB.

Ill have to see, but I really don't think a round driver is feasible. I think the center pad on the board is bigger than the hole in the groove so you'd be shorting out against the case.
