I know the drivers are the exact same its just the shape that is different. All i was wondering before (not now, because the only option you are giving me is adding a spring to a regular rectangular driver, so i am assuming that would be easiest) if it would be easier to put a round driver where the battery stop is because there wouldn't be much support for the driver just with the diode pins. I will just add a spring to the rectangular board. Anyway this is going to be my first time using these hosts and i am expecting big from them, can't wait!

The hole inside the barrel is just to seperate the battery and driver compartment, it's not sized or any round driver to sit there. I don't believe it would fit.

I'm still waiting on the final quote for the order. I guess right now they're working out the barrel grooves. Hopefully I get to place the order tonight.

There is a decent chunk coming to you anyways.
Ok ok, thank you. If you can arrange it I would like to get 4 of the 5.6mm and 2 of the 9mm. That would be enough for me to rebuild my former Kryton collection and to add a couple of new wavelengths that I didn't have back then.

A rectangular driver can be soldered to the diode pins and then secured in place with sealant or epoxy to take most of the stress off of the diode pins. I like to use Loctite Stik'n Seal acrylic sealer. Just make sure it's thoroughly cured before applying power because it is a water based adhesive.

Depending on a round drivers actual size, it may physically fit inside of the Kryton barrel. You would have to use an adhesive or epoxy to mount it unless you fabricated some sort of tubular spacer to support it. I would measure it if I had a Kryton on hand to measure, but long ago I sent all of my Krytons to Kenom to be anodized and did not get them back.

If you're planning on using the Kryton for a high powered build, I would think that it would be much easier to thermally bond the heatsink of one or more rectangular drivers to the inside of the Kryton barrel than it would to fabricate a heat pipe to do the same with a round driver. All of the Krytons I used to have had the rectangular drivers with the battery spring right on them.

Copper? Any news on the copper version? (Yes I know, I'm a broken record :p)

For it to be economically feasable, Matt would have to institute a minimum order of a specific number. Otherwise tooling/setup costs could be prohibitive for a small quantity. When working copper there are some issues that are not as much of an issue with aluminum. Pure copper is more gummy in comparison, so it's not as easy to machine. There are harder copper alloys that are more workable, but the price usually goes up on the raw materials for these more workable alloys. Brass isn't too bad to work but is not near as good as copper thermally.

I've heard from many, many people that copper is harder to work with, and I realize there would be a price increase with a copper host vs the aluminum one.

Still, the idea of that much copper excites me. A 3W laser is not really a great option in that small host IMO, but with copper, and copper module... you can go all out.

I don't know how many are needed for a minimum order, but I expect meeting the minimum order amount would not be an issue.

Hey Mohrenberg, I already placed my order for one 5.6. I was thinking about adding another 5.6. Can I do that? My order number is #151.
Thanks.

They assure me the quote will be done tonight.....I really hope so, as I really don't like holding people's money. Ill ask them about copper when they have the quote done to see if it would be added to the current qty or be considered seperate.

You also have a pm incoming Bob
